Secondary update! I figured out why they looked so dim, DRL brightness is reduced in every mode except for when the vehicle meets these conditions: head lights are set to auto, the light sensor says that it is daytime (low beams are off), and the vehicle is in drive/reverse. I borrowed some forscan knowledge from the explorer and f150 crowd and modified the as built in the BCM. This now has the DRLs at the same brightness at all times (parked, low beams on, unlocking with the fob). Changes made are below. I should probably plan on retaking my temperature readings now that I've cranked up the output since this will probably change that baseline

Great content here, keeping a close eye on it as I'd love to do this to mine as well. I am interested in exactly how you would go about taking care of the moisture problem and the tools needed to purge with argon. Also interested to see how the temp measurements change with the increased brightness.

Keep up the good work!🤘

It'll be a minute before my next update on this fellas, just letting yall know I haven't abandoned the project. Health problems are preventing me from really doing much these days, but it's high up there on my list of projects to come back to

You actually have to do all 4 posts, that photo was more of an in-progress shot. Sorry for the confusion. One set is for the lower half of the DRL and the other is for the top

Not sure if this option has been explored. I gather most are American's on here.

In Aus, we have Vikor Industries. They have released a replacement for the Ranger in the OEM matrix style with a DRL's that you can make any color. They cost around $1650 AUD so from what I gather that's around the same price as some of the options being discussed on this site.

Not sure if this is the best thread to put this on but hopefully this helps someone. Again, not sure if you can get them from Amazon so you could get them overseas. Haven't dug that far...
But to me they seem like a better option due to them being a complete package, they are not a permanent option, and you can make them any colour...

LMK what you guys think...

Sorry yes, I forgot to say that...
However, that is purely due to the OEM Matrix system. Vikor aren't yet sure how it will effect the OEM computer program.
You technically can put them, its just not clear yet what it does to the program, because the replacements aren't Matrix...
You may note that everything its excluding are the AUS models that come with the OEM Matrix lights...
For you guys Lariat and XLT it would work great!

We don't have the matrix lights in our us spec rangers. But that also doesn't take into account our auto height adjust?

Ah ok. my bad. I'm not very well informed on the difference between them all (be keen to see some info on it tho).
In Aus, our Rangers with this style headlight have Matrix tech in them. I don't have them on my standard XLT, I just have the Non-Matrix LED's...
The other lights (we call them Raptor-style lights) have a feature were you can stop the Matrix function, and just use them as normal self-levelling LED's...

Again, I'm not sure if it'd work for US rangers but yeh.... Hopefully someone on here can make something the same to sell to US Ranger owners, so you don't have to modify your OEM lights...
