I already changed the BOM to use black hardware. All of them that ship out will have black hardware going forward, including your order. I don't see any reason to make it an option. Seems like everyone likes the black zinc. I think we'll be able to ship all open orders today, or at least most of them.
Awesome thank you.

I added this photo to the product page and included the powder link below the Red. There isn't a link available for the textured black, unfortunately.

I like the red. I’ll be buying either the textured black or the red. Thanks for posting!.

Has there been any testing yet to see if a 35" tire fits in the spare tire area with this kit?

Hi AdventureLab, I got your kit installed, but have a related question, can you go to this thread and comment please?

Broke the 7 pin trailer plug latch -replacement part number?

I am sure you encounter this routinely, how do you secure the plug into the OEM socket when the latch breaks? I am sure you are not constantly splicing in the new OEM Ford replacement assembly. Yikes!

Thanks,

We haven't yet, but our tires did come in last week. As soon as the wheels get here, we'll get them test fitted.
I have a dumb question. Would spacing out the 7 pin connector from the bumper an inch or so lesson the need to have a 90 degree bend in the wires at the back of the bumper to clear 35" tire?

Yes, but I don't think it's going to be necessary. We could definitely machine out a black Delrin spacer if needed, though. Ironically, that will cost more than the rest of the kit.

That's a bummer. They just don't make plastic like they used to. You might be able to find that plug at a salvage yard and just pull out the retainer clip and use it on yours. Just a thought. Otherwise, you could try adding a thin amount of silicone to the outside of the plug before connecting the female side. Other than that, you could zip tie the wiring harness in a way that applies inward pressure to the connector to keep it connected.

I put it up high it in a spot where I can easily keep an eye on the strapping….. the nylon ties don’t get exposed to any UV, but it does get a little hot in that spot. Tho all those wires are exposed to rock strikes, some kind of ABS or nylon sheet guard zip tied across the front would make me feel better about hooning around on gravel ranch roads… any ideas about that?

Am I missing something… my Ford Ranger already has the trailer plug in this location from the factory. Do some not?
