I’m not buying the tire clearance argument because I installed mine with my 315/70 spare installed and didn’t even have to remove the spare to get to the wiring and put it all back together.
Definitely an oversight by Ford. For any truck that is designed to go offroad, any kind of offroad, having something hang down off the bottom of the bumper is just wrong.
Still love the truck though.
Nice to know they solved the problem with 2025’s.

The 2025 RR still has it below the bumper. Not corrected. It’s still in the water. ( figuratively speaking)

Why would that make a difference I had a RAM Rebel with the bigger tires and the plug came out in exact same spot as the other Ranger models.
I just think it was a hiccup on Ford's part for the new 2024 model as people are suggesting the 2025 model has it there.
lol, the people who made this plug adaptor replied before you and agreed and expounded on the suspected reasoning?

I promise you the reason wasnt cost. It costs more to do something different on a particular model than to do something the same. Creating a whole bracket and welding it to the truck is going to cost them more than using the part they are mass producing and using on everything else including the Raptor over seas. It’s probably someone’s job just putting those brackets on there.

All I know is it looks way cleaner on the bumper than under!

For what its worth: I was speaking to my dealership a couple days ago about delivery status of my 2025 RR and I asked the question about the plug location. They said that on all model trucks where the plug is next to the license plate, owners without tonneau covers who typically park their trucks on an incline (rear higher than front) in rain storms, will have a deluge of water onto the plug when they level the truck out. After consistently happening, this will lead to water intrusion and shorting out the plug. This may or may not be the Corporate reasoning, just thought I would pass it along. I plan to relocate the plug and have a tonneau cover.

Sounds like a "move along" response. Just load the connector(s) with dielectric grease as should be done regardless of position.

I had this kit installed today. It looks great, plus now it’s where it should be and I don’t have to worry about when I’m off road anymore. 👍🏻

Same thought about the factory RR hitch location as hanging aftermarket LED lights below an off-road truck bumper. This aftermarket relocator kit is a great idea, as are IMO trailing arm sensor guards. I remember two old Ford slogans, Ford Has a Better Idea and Quality is Job 1, but sometimes American ingenuity and private enterprise is just better. Congrats on a great product.
