Wanting to get a bed cover for my 2025 XLT. I know there are no totally waterproof ones, but which is the best a keeping water (rain, washing, etc) out of the bed ? Looking for good and bad reviews.

depends on type of security you want and the style you want. Do you know what style you want? Soft rollups, hard rollup, tri fold, do you want to tow on top of the cover? Diamond back has that feature.

I think I want a tri-fold that can be locked. Again, probably no cover is perfectly secure.

Are standard covers like the BakFlip and Leer not secure? I recognize that the Diamondback provides more security due to its design, but regular hard tonneaus would still require a decent bit of work to break into, right?

I can't comment on the security aspect of the Backflip or Leer, nor should I even really comment on the Switchback, since I don't have any of those covers. I went directly with the Diamondback SE after doing research on tonneaus when I was in the market for one. It best fit my needs and criteria. It checked off all my boxes. It's sturdy, rugged, lightweight (for me), looks sharp, and has been great in terms of weather protection.

all the hard covers my family and friends have are very secure. way more then any soft cover i have ever had, thats for sure.

the only way you are opening a hard cover easily is opening the tailgate so as long as the tailgate is locked, they are also locked.

I got the folding hard tonneau cover for my 2025 Ranger Lariat - ordered it with the rest of the truck so Ford did the install. I looked in the bed after a couple of rains and it was completely dry. I also had the same cover on my 2009 F-150. Installed that one myself and it kept things good and dry in the bed too which is why I got it again on this one.

Thanks. That matches my sense of things. I mostly need to prevent crimes of opportunity, and the standard hard covers seem to do that. If someone really wants to break in, they’ll just smash a window and unlock the tailgate. A Diamondback won’t do any extra good then, anyway. I had a DB cover several years ago and it was terrific, but their pricing has gotten out of control.

Locks are only to keep "Honest People" out. Criminals will always find a way in...

I think the tail gate is the weak link not the cover. I think all the hard covers are relatively secure.

The diamond back looks good to me if you put stuff on top of the cover. I believe is relatively heavy to take apart but comes out in sections.

I think the way the plastic rail are made with channels that run toward the bed, the stake pockets, gap in tail gate, and holes at the cab side will make anything a water tight challenge.

covers that cover the whole rail might, might have the best chance of being waterproof.

I had a leer solid fiberglass cover that came over the sides on my Toyota Tacoma but that thing was a pain to remove but it was definitely waterproof

Is this the cover made by Leer for Ford?

You have many options then.
Take a look at the Diamondback Switchback. It may check the boxes of your two criteria of a tri-fold and security.

https://diamondbackcovers.com/products/diamondback-switchback
They dont make switchback for 2024+ rangers, otherwise I would have bought it. We only get the SE /270 Cover and none of the bins made for the SE/270 are made for a ranger either. I wish Diamond back would make them for rangers but i guess demand is not there..

p.s. In terms of security, the diamond back is the most secure IMO of most covers. Even if the locks are drilled out they wont be able to move the locking bars on each end and the center piece is attached to each end and clamped down with c clamps. No windows to break either (as with leers and similar products), they would need a saw, angle grinder and a lot of time..That's what you get with Diamond back is the more time to get through it...
