I have been watching and waiting for a good sounding exhaust system for the 2.7L. I think the OEM unit is poor in sound, more so compared to the 3.0 in the RR that is crazy nice. The difference between the 2.7 and 3.0 , both being V6, tells me there has to be a better sounding system. I have seen both the Borla and the MBRP units, both sound way better, but cannot figure out why the Borla is three times more expensive? I just want a better sounding system, that I can install on my own, without modifications, for the best price, as it's an exhaust, not wanting to pay thousands for LOL. Thoughts on best units, and sound, for the money?

borla is generally one of the best exhausts you can get for anything.

see if you like spintech though. i have used them on a few vehicles and since you custom set up your muffler, you get to decide the sound. then when it gets there, you have your local exhaust place install it. you can put it in place of your stock muffler, or have a new system custom done at the same time, if your town has a reputable exhaust shop

It's almost impossible to make a 60 degree V6 sound good.
The best bang for your buck is the exhaust system the truck came with.

If that is the case, why does the 3.0 and 3.5 V6 both sound amazing in comparison? The 2.7 and 3.0 are not that different is design or size. Just my thoughts.

The cost difference comes down to a few things. Borla only uses SS, MBRP offers 2 versions in steel and 1 in SS, but even the SS is half the price of the Borla.

Borla uses a true dual setup the full length as well as uses a resonator (interestingly the Ford Performance exhaust that is also made by Borla does a 2-into-1 but still keeps a resonator); the MBRP goes 2-into-1 and uses a couple of H pipes to try and cancel out resonance. You are getting more for paying more. Borla touts their no-drone exhaust setup, and this is partially how they do it

Lastly, and this is purely my personal take...MBRP seems to be more common on "Bro Trucks" and Borla seems to be more common on nicer vehicles. That tends to make companies charge accordingly.

interesting take. I did notice that Borla uses two pipes all the way down, that makes sense when it comes to cost, but honestly for me it's more about sound than looks. I mean I am not crawling under the truck, I just want it to sound louder and more like a truck LOL. The MBRP has lifetime warranty on the SS products. I wish they offered the black end on the SS but its only on the Aluminum. Again, for me its sound, and I think for most it is as well, but I may be wrong. Had one guy on here with the MBRP and it sounded as good if not better than the Borla and that is what got me looking. Again it could be how it was recorded, but who knows. Thanks!

borla is definitely high cost but their stuff is awesome. i bought a car with a borla muffler on it and i kept the muffler when i got rid of the car and used it on 3 or 4 other cars. it was so well made and sounded awesome.

this dude was next to me at the gas station in a crown vic. it sounded so awesome idling there. i asked him what did he have and he said borla, all the way. that car sounded like a Lamborghini or Ferrari and it was just a 4.6

but, i had a spintech muffler made for my titan and it was pretty dang awesome sounding too

Everyone's definition of amazing differs. A fellow down the street has a RR. He drives by my house daily and always in Baja mode. Nothing about it sounds high performance to me.
The best sounding V6 to my ears is the Alfa Romeo GME-T4 2.9 liter V6 (90 degree) The Ford V6's will never sound that good regardless of exhaust choice.
That said I would recommend the Borla system. It's made from 304 Alloy SS and to the highest quality standards and will last forever.
I have have a Borla full system on my other car and have had no issues with it in 12 years of use.
Does MBRP even make a Ranger system? I couldn't find it listed on their website?

Yes they make one also Ss and three types. I agree sound is personal. I love a deep tone not the fast tinny sound Japanese and Italian cars make lol. Agree on Borls just price is crazy.

I have heard many MBPR on f150s as my local dealer does custom work on their builds, and they sound great. I chose MBPR as for cost/sound wise. They have demo's on YT, so just listen to each and pick the one that best suits your needs, budget.

Im waiting to see the Spd system once it’s released. The 2.3 system they make for the 19-23 sounds really good so i am hopeful it will on the ranger.
