Wildtrak owners — anyone feel this after tire upgrade?
On my 2025 Wildtrak, I switched from stock 255/65 R18 HTs to 285/70 R17 ATs with 10 offset wheels.

Now the brake pedal has a softer initial bite — feels like I need more pressure to slow down.
Yes, I know the new tires and wheels probably added ~15 kg (~33 lbs) of unsprung rotational mass per corner, but this truck has a 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs) towing capacity — shouldn’t be a huge problem, right?

Curious if others felt this after upsizing tires?
It’s actually a bit scary at times :)

Maybe fixable by resetting ABS module learning or something similar?

Bigger tires are going to effect acceleration, stopping and cornering.
Yeah I get that, but this truck’s got 3,000 kg towing brakes — feels like it shouldn’t be this different.

So let me ask directly:
Did anyone else feel a softer brake pedal or delayed bite after upsizing tires/wheels?
Could it be fixable with a reset or calibration?

I dont know, my fatherin law didnt mention a difference in pedal feel when he did his tires but if you have the access to do the abs reset, might as well try it

Let’s clarify something first - the Ranger has 3,000kg of braked towing capacity. So the tow trailer will have brakes too. This is what the included brake controller is for. You’ve added 60kgs of unsprung weight, plus much wider tyres (larger contact patch) so you’re going to need more brake pressure to stop. It’ll soon feel normal after you get used to it

FYI - The towing capacity is 750kg if trailer is unbraked

I wouldn’t expect the pedal to feel any different, even if stopping is a little slower because of the added weight. But the really important question is, can you post some pictures of your truck for us to drool over?
