Yeah, mine stopped yesterday afternoon too. Will definitely send a report via the UI if it does it again.

I have same issues and I have 24 Ranger Raptor built 09/24. Must have been a software update with as many trucks affected. Not sure what to do. Is this covered in recall yet or too early

According to Ford, the issue has been fixed. They posted about it on the Mach E & Lightning forum.

If you did a reset of Sync in the past few days, you need to do another one today to prevent it from happening again.
Good lookin out, just did another reset to be sure. (To @FairOaksRaptor you hold volume down and next track on the steering wheel til the screen goes black). Sad that this could be caused by a backend "provider" but also not surprised... Makes me think the people pulling their modem fuses might be going down the right path. If they ever kill the app and stop offering OTAs there will be no reason not to.

It had something to do with the Sync maps. The maps for Sync get updated in the background every quarter or so and not necessarily with an actual APIM OTA. I don't know exactly what caused the reboots, but it for sure had something to do with Sync maps. This had nothing to do with an OTA.

Edit: New maps were pushed from the server on Wednesday to Ford vehicles running Garmin maps which include the Mach E, Lightning and apparently the Rangers. Not sure which others use Garmin, too.

I hope Ford corrects this issue. If 'cloud' access is lost or interrupted access to the center stack should not be affected.

How do you do a reset besides turning the truck off and on?
Using your steering wheel buttons, hold the volume down at the same time as the forward / skip until it reboots.

Hey that’s was cool! How did you learn that. I just rebooted. I’ll report later if it worked.

Thanks again

Mine started doing it several times yesterday too, but not once today drove it for over an hour each way. Praying it fixed itself

My 2025 Ranger Raptor with 24k miles on it has this problem too but right after the display reboots it usually puts me in either Rock Crawl or 4WD mode. Sometimes I have to pull over and shut the truck off and restart it to get out of that mode despite all my other efforts.

This problem has been going on for a few months for me but it's getting more frequent now. I'll try the reboot to see if that helps.

I can't help but wonder if my battery is to blame. An AI search mentioned that as a possible cause and we all know that Ford has had to replace a LOT of defective batteries under warranty over the past few years.

Here's what my AI search rendered.

----------------------------------------

AI Overview

A Ford Ranger Raptor randomly switching drive modes (such as jumping into Baja mode or shifting into 4WD on its own) is a known issue reported by owners on forums like Ranger6G Forum and Reddit.

Common Causes

• Faulty Drive Mode Selector Switch: The physical rotary dial or internal spring-return mechanism on the center console can stick, short out, or activate on its own without being touched.
• Debris or Contamination: Dirt, liquid, or small debris lodged around the console dial can cause false electronic signals.
• Software and Over-the-Air (OTA) Glitches: Bm-level firmware bugs or communication errors between body control modules and the vehicle computer can trigger random mode jumps while driving normally on paved roads.
• Electrical or Battery Issues: A failing 12V battery or a poorly calibrated battery monitoring sensor can cause intermittent voltage drops, leading to erratic behavior in electronic controllers.
