Guys, my desert race truck has loud fans. How do I fix it?
Stick to trying to figuring out what truck nuts you want to buy and let the adults discuss their issues.

Unfortunately this is normal, as much as it sucks. I get it, parked next to most other cars that have their AC on, these trucks are loud. I get comments all the time about how loud it is and how it sounds like a jet taking off. Everyone can always hear me arrive in my driveway. Fans are louder than my exhaust. But I've been around other Fords, like the Explorer, Bronco, etc, and they all have the same characteristic - loud fan when it's hot out. I work with fan blades and electric motors in my career. If you want to push air at high RPM's and keep costs at a manageable level you're going to get noise. Could Ford make it better? Yes. Would it cost more? Also yes.

Electric fans make noise. No way around it. I’ll put up with it. Alternative is not hearing it, and engine overheats in hot weather.

You can cool your PC effectively with a standard, $5 case fan. It will be loud, but it will work.

Alternatively, you can cool it with a Noctua fan, and it will be quiet, but the fan will cost $25.

Someone's got to cost cut somewhere. Still, it really is loud. ?

Thats not how that works lol. You can make that 5 dollar fan just as quiet.

If it's running at a lower RPM for a given volume of airflow, it's going to be quieter.

It happens every day.
One thing I have noticed is, when truck is in direct sun, the temp on the dash displays much hotter than what the actual temp is. Curious if the fan is reading off the temp displayed, as opposed to what the actual ambient temp is, which makes the fan run excessively. I bet I'm right.

There's an ambient air temperature sensor in the passenger side door mirror, if I recall correctly.

Mine went bad, and the climate control started blowing hot and it gave me a check engine light.

I replaced the AAT sensor trying to fix the AAT temp being off most of the time. It didn’t help. I would guess it’s a software issue. I’m surprised more people haven’t been complaining about this issue.

I still think the false high temp reading is driving the cooling fans. Thoughts?

I assume the fans speed is dependent on the engine temperature. Otherwise, they would never come on when outside temp is cold, like 40F, even though engine is getting hot.
When I first get in my truck after work, outside temp is around 95, but fans aren't running very fast because engine temp isn't up to normal yet. But when I get on the interstate at 75MPH, with AAT at 95+, boy do I hear those fans howling.
When I leave home in the morning at 75F, drive 30 miles to work, I hardly hear the fans running, even at 75 MPH.

IMO reading 102 when its actually 80 is too much of a discrepancy, and probably a bad sensor.
My temps are usually very close, but if parked in the sun, the truck will read 6 or degrees higher, until I get moving.

My RR fan is loud, but as others stated, is to be expected. I have an Escape at work and it has an electric fan that is loud also when the temps are hot (albeit a smaller fan obviously).
