Dash Cam Fuse Taps

It gets worse with the trimming of the micro3 fuse tap lol. Yeah I know. You can probably use one of the micro2 slots as accessory but I didn't like the idea of tapping into what any of them were tied to. The fuse charts are not very informative on what the actual fuses are linked to, the labeling in the manual is terrible. If someone can find a better and easier solution I'll be grateful but this should work fine just with the added effort.

Yeah, in every other car Ive always tapped the Homelink fuse but I cant find anything with that label on it.

I'm going to try this micro 3 fuse tap. Single review said it did not need trimming and the photos don't appear to show the raised outer edges. I'll report back on the fitment and quality.

I picked up some Bussmann ATR and ATL 5 amp fuses. Never know what you're getting in kits or Amazon. Will cover the crimp with heat shrink tubing also.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get any power going to my dashcam, with truck started or turned off. I have power on 28 and accessory on 22. I even swapped the wires around and still didn't work.

You missing a fuse on 21+22 tap?

I mean, I dont have a spare 3 prong fuse to throw in there. I have the OEM fuse in there as the only one. Would that really keep it from getting any power?

Not sure to be honest but since 21+22 is already only 5 amp I don't think it would hurt anything. Just going off what I noticed.

Does your dashcam come with a 12v cigarette lighter power cord? Can you confirm the unit is good to go with a known working power source first?

Your new 5 amp on 28 looks fine. The 30 amp on 28 and the 5 amp on 21+22 good and not blown?

The other thing would be to check your crimp connections.

Whats wrong with the dashcam that ford sells?

it's incredibly overpriced for what you get and likely has less features than a similarly-priced model. which is basically the same story for everything on the ford accessories website.

you're paying a premium for an inferior product because ford put their branding on it.

There's another part of this thread that breaks down which prong is the "hot side"

If you don't have both fuses in the tap and if the fuse tap is in the incorrect orientation it would not work.

Figured it out. I had to move the single fuse on 22 to the other open spot. Now its all good and working. Time to route the cable. Thanks again for your quick responses!

Nice I was able to find a micro III 5 amp fuse at AutoZone if you're ever looking for one

I just installed my Viofo A229 Pro front and back with their optional hardwire kit and it all works perfectly.

Yes - my wiring installer put the back camera on the tinted window crooked. It is not level and my OCD cannot stop looking at it

Yeah - I guess so but dollars to donuts that within 2 weeks from now I will pull it off, re-tint and put it on level myself.

Still waiting on my darn micro 3 fuse tap. I have everything ran and buttoned up. Just need to complete the power harness and plug it in.

Thanks again @jrRaptor for the inspiration to combine the two Blendmounts. Very pleased with the front and rear mount solutions.

When I popped off my drivers side A pillar for some reason the tweeter snapped out of its mount that's a part of the A pillar. Not sure why it was so difficult to get that seated again but that was my most frustrating part of the install.

Did my best to ran all wiring behind airbags for safety purposes. Should have the fuse tap tomorrow and be able to finish this up.
