Driver Side Window Wind Noise

There’s the body shop way to deal with this. Adding round rubber weather strip tubing to the already existing weather strip. It fills the gap in the weatherstripping and doesn’t allow it it collapses. It will make the existing weather strip hold it‘s shape when the door is closed.

Can be purchased off Amazon inexpensively. Use one of the existing holes or make a small vertical cut in the trucks weather strip. LI’ve the backer tubing, attach weed trimmer line to the backing tube with tape, the. Insert the in the circular tube all the way around and then seal the small verticals cut with rubber cement. Works like a charm and makes a much better seal against the chassis.

Here’s how I fixed my noise issue on my truck
The whistling noise was coming from the opening inside the window door frame upper corner in my case. This was on both doors. 5mins to fix per doors, but months of annoying noise.

I use 3m Calk strip. Can be bought on amazon.
If you don’t know this stuff, super useful for automotive or travel trailer and can be easily removed. Please do your research before using it if you don’t know it.

With the window down, I pulled out the window seal gently and add on each side of the inside foam square. If it don't stick, wipe it to remove any greasy residue on the rubber seal.

Add some in the corner where the square foam is not reaching the frame opening. You can see the triangular frame opening. The goal is to close the air from this zone not covered by the foam.

Carefully set back in place without pressing the seal and once in place apply pressure to stick the 3m calk.
After that I had only normal door wind noise like my ranger2020, but no whistling.

It’s less sticky compared to butyl i think, making it easier to remove the seal if needed.

Maybe they didnt seat it all the way up to the top of the of the b-pillar side of the door/window frame.

I found that if you pull the channel out of the window frame (on b-pillar side of front door) just enough so you can pull it up out of the door maybe 3/8" and push the extra material to the top of the door frame, then reseat the channel, my wind noise goes away 100%. I don't know if the channel in the door is too wide and doesnt hold onto the window run channel tight enough, or if the run channel itself is bad.

However, once I put the window down, the noise returns...

I took my truck in to the dealer in January as my drivers window essentially stopped working. I asked them to fix that and the wind noise. They said the wind noise was normal as they drove other rangers that made the same noise. Go figure… They took the door apart, cleaned the window run channel and lubed it which restored functionality of the window. Seems like the lube has helped prevent the window pulling the run channel down with it. Every now and then I have to pull the run channel and push it back up into the corner.

I did buy a new run channel but haven’t gotten around to installing it as I’m not sure if it’s worth taking the door apart for something that won’t necessarily fix the problem.

I also purchased some of the 3m caulk strip from several posts back that I am going to try before replacing the run channel.

They said the wind noise was normal as they drove other rangers that made the same noise. Go figure… They took the door apart, cleaned the window run channel and lubed it which restored functionality of the window. Seems like the lube has helped prevent the window pulling the run channel down with it. Every now and then I have to pull the run channel and push it back up into the corner.

I did buy a new run channel but haven’t gotten around to installing it as I’m not sure if it’s worth taking the door apart for something that won’t necessarily fix the problem.

I also purchased some of the 3m caulk strip from several posts back that I am going to try before replacing the run channel.

Keep us posted please. Mine went into the dealer 3 times for this issue and they replaced the run channel and gaskets and still couldn't fix it. Ford ended up giving me a free maintenance package for the headache.

I think the seal or door frame is just badly designed based on the fact that I had this noise on both driver and passager side.

It’s been two weeks that i did my fix and I had strong face and side winds running over 100km/h without noticeable noise coming from the upper window B pillar.

Without service bulletin, the dealer will just replace by the same seal.

I hope this will work for you or at least lowered down to a level that is acceptable while waiting for an official upgraded seal.

I've had my 2024 Raptor in to the dealer 4 times to try and fix this issue. The last time I was there they told me they were going to grind down the self centering bolts so they could get an even tighter seal on the door. I still have a wind noise and now its harder to shut the driver side door.

Glad I found this thread this morning. Truck has 1200 miles on it and I noticed for the first time driving in that I too was getting this wind/whistling sound coming from what seemed like behind my head area which would indicate the B-pillar area. My educated guess is that over the handful of times that I've had to roll my driver's side window down, it has slowly worked the seal down creating the sound.

I'm going to check it out more closely later but I'm thinking something like some 3M heavy duty double sided tape would work good up in that corner where the seal is. Sort of what Jackal did above.

Interesting someone said it was a wheel bearing issue for them and another said the mirrors...little confused by that. The most common and logical thinking here would be the door seal.

UPDATE: on my drive home form work, I very intently listened with the radio off. It was a little windy today but not gusting too terribly bad. I could hear the whistling around highway speeds. Very consistently. I power folded my mirrors in during these speeds and the whistling stopped instantly. I did this multiple times on different stretches of road at varying highway speeds. It definitely has to be the mirrors in my case. The seal channels for me look fine.
