I purchased a new 2025 2wd, 4 cyl
Ranger 3 weeks ago. It's been great. No issues in 3 wks, 750.mi.
Im 74 yrs old still learning the truck
Coming from a 93 f150 and a 2014 Camry.
Last night i.stopped at a drive thru. I turned my truck off so I could hear. When I cranked it up to pull out. It acted like the emergency brake was applied?
I didn't apply the brake. No brake light was on. I tried releasing it a couple of times. No change
I finally got it out of the drive thru. Still acted like brake wss applied
The only thing I recall doing , Unrelated is I fastened
my seat belt and the problem went away? I dont think thiis issue is electronic? Intermittent or 1 time problem,? I havent tried emergency brake after that.
I probably will in my driveway. Maybe stop by my dealer or tell them at oil change as long as no more problems. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

Did you maybe have your foot in the brake and forget to put it in park? I know a lot of vehicles have roll away protection now where they will do something like automatically change to park or put a parking brake on.

Thats a possibility, but not a habit d mine. Coming from a 94 f150. I dont recall specifics, but I read somewhere in the forum where someone unbuckled seatbelt ,disabled autohold for parking in close places
Mine seemed to release the brakes when I fastened the seat belt.
I did find a 25 Ranger hard copy manual I ordered from ebay.

Since it’s electronic, it will release if you put it in gear and depress the accelerator even if you don’t press the e brake button to release it. It assumes that it’s safe to release if you’re giving it gas.

Sounds like "auto hold." This is my first experience with auto hold. At first, I thought why. After using it, I like it.

Edit: Since my auto hold is set, I notice after starting in a parking lot where I do use the parking brake, the auto hold is set even after releasing the parking brake. Still takes a throttle input to release.

I've had the same issue after leaving a parking lot. I started it up and it kept giving me a e-brake error. I pressed the e-brake button a few times, switched gears, and powered it off/on. It seemed to go away on its own after a couple minutes. My Auto-Hold was not on.
