Currently have a 24 F150 Raptor, while its nice and does all I want it to do I can stop from reminiscing how much fun my old 2005 Ranger (4.0L w/ 5sp MT / Camburg Mid travel kit / Headers / 4.11's / custom tune) was. I beat the snot out of that truck and it was a blast everywhere unless it was loaded down with dirt bikes etc.

I was just in a base 2026 STX rental while my Raptor was in the shop (axle seal leaking) and this is the first time I've drive a newer (than 05) Ranger and it was great even being a stripped down model with the 2.3L. I would love to drive a new RR with the Ford tune.

Have any of you moved from a full size Raptor (of any Gen) to the mid size a regretted it? I know the RR is way more playful and useful, so for me that speaks volumes. But the cab storage is horrible. I would likely pull the rear seats and figure out a platform etc.

Not quite the experience you asked but I gave my parents my F150 Tremor when their truck blew up and down sized into a few cars until settling with a Ranger Raptor.

Depending on your lifestyle the Ranger Raptor will be a lot more cramped for space, the F150 in general are very spacious and can accommodate a lot and store more things. Your center console is smaller and console storage is not as deep or wide. Your door pockets on the ranger are a bit of a joke. As you mentioned the rear seat storage asbymal and not flat so it just makes loading things require a bit more thought. Likewise shorter bed in width and length.

However, where the Ranger Raptor is at its best because you can damn near park anywhere at least where I'm at. It make almost as much power as the 3.5 F150 while having a more nimble wheel base. It's a lot more fun to throw around the Ranger than it was the F150 I had. Overall, I'd still buy a Ranger again if I had to choose a F150 Raptor or a Ranger Raptor.

I had a 2017 F150 Raptor, then a 2020 F150 Raptor and now a 2024 Ranger Raptor. The main reason I downsized is because I take care of my 89 year old dad and it was getting to be a struggle getting him in and out of the F150 Raptor. I hardly ever have passengers in the back so rear seat space isn't an issue for me. About my only complaint is the small center console compartment. The Ranger Raptor is nimble and fun to drive. I love both trucks and wouldn't rule out owning another F150 Raptor again someday?

I had a 2014 Raptor before my Ranger. The Ranger is way more fun to drive in every scenario (as you'd expect when compared to 15-year-old tech). As you mentioned, interior space is the downfall. Anything oversized has to go in the bed, vs. in the F-150 you'd just lift the rear bench and have a huge flat load floor. I don't store much in my truck so the console/glovebox/miscellaneous cubby space is a non-issue for me. If we have kids then I'm sure I'll start to miss the extra room, but I love this truck and have zero regrets.

EDIT: Couple more things to consider. The Ranger is way easier to maneuver/park in urban areas but doesn't command nearly the same attention that the full-size does.

Had several full size pick em ups, including a 2012 F150 Raptor, never the 2nd or 3rd gen Raptorized F150 though. For what it's worth, the whole package of the Ranger Raptor, even before the Ford tune, is just a blast in so many ways. I really appreciate not having the full size when I'm in the city, on regular trail rides where it fits better, or tossing it around, whether in snow or dirt. Where I miss the full size is, obviously, the interior space, just cavernous in the bigger brother. Also, in my case coming from the 2012, I do miss the V8 soundtrack. I actually have become quite fond of the Ranger Raptor's exhaust, although no one will ever mistake it for an eight, but it fits with the whole vehicle's character I think. Think of it as a cross between a trophy truck and a rally car, if something like that could mesh and then be made into a streetable version.

The F-150 Raptor surprisingly feels pretty nimble (at least the gen 3 trucks) when you're hucking it around in the dirt, but you've definitely got to leave yourself a little more room for error. I also feel like the speeds need to be higher to get that same sense of excitement you get from a smaller platform.

There have been plenty of wash sections where I'll glance down at the speedometer and realize I'm doing 60-80 mph, yet it feels completely uneventful. On one of the more open sections, we pushed well past 95 mph, and even my wife commented that it sure didn't feel like we were going that fast. It's almost a false sense of security because the truck is so smooth and composed at speed.

For those of you with seat time in both, does the Ranger Raptor still feel planted and smooth at those speeds, or does it get kicked around a bit more because of the lighter weight and shorter wheel base? I'm curious whether the smaller platform gives you more sensation of speed without sacrificing stability.

That said, I just finished reading all of @AdventureLab's posts about their rear seat delete setup, and honestly I think that would solve any space concerns I have with the Ranger.

Sadly we don't have places where I've had the Ranger up to anywhere near those speeds to give any sort of helpful answer. Up to 50-60 it does still feel pretty well planted. At lower speeds it is a blast to drift through corners; like you said, smaller size leaves a little more margin for error.

Morning, I can agree with what the others have said. I have a 2018 Gen 2 and my wife’s 2025 is a blast with the tune. Definitely feels planted at highway speeds to me. We don’t have back seaters in the truck, but haul our camping gear (clothes, dry food, etc.) with the seats flipped up. I can feel the weight difference with a yeti cooler in the bed and other stuff. I love my Gen 2 for the space if I need to haul friends or family. The RR is definitely fun. Hope this helps.

The hunt has begun for a RR.. I think it will be the "wifes" new daily... since a JL on 38's isn't always the most practical. Thanks for the input all!

Ive had both, prefer the nimbleness and parkability of the rraptor. Its size makes it easy to maneuver, park, and its fits in a garage easily. It easily handles 80+ and stays planted well. You have to remember this is a heavy truck with a widened stance. I had a 24 and now have a 26. If I didnt like the first one, I sure wouldn't have gotten a second one.

Raptor r is only way id ever maybe go back to a full size, but its behemoth size and ridiculous price will likely make that never happen.

My F150 wasn’t a Raptor, but I just made the move last Thursday. Storage is definitely at a premium after so many years in a full size, but I’m adjusting to that. The F150 is also quieter inside the cabin and smoother on the road. That said, the Ranger Raptor is SO much more fun to drive. It’s much more nimble and I feel more connected to it when driving. The only thing I’m truly going to miss are the ventilated front seats! So more or less echoing what others have said, lol.
