Can't find old thread thru SEARCH - so posting here- was there ever a definitive answer whether we should leave the pad or remove it ? Just got my truck and it is there. Dealer has not a clue.

Definitive answer ? You decide.

Here are the other three threads regarding this topic (oldest to newest):
https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/doors-hard-to-close.10027
https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/did-ford-mean-to-leave-this-here.12189
https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/white-material-between-cab-bed.13426

My opinion (for whatever it might be worth, probably not much):
It is left over from the assembly process, and should have been removed at that time.
It seems like the Guy on the Passenger side of the assembly line managed to get this stuff removed from his side of the bed; but the Guy on the Driver's side of the assembly line was distracted/tired/lazy, and sometimes failed to remove this stuff from his side of the bed.

This 'insulation' was probably some sort of protection during transport to the assembly line (my theory).
I removed it, and now my doors close better (the cab is not as 'air-tight' as it was with this stuff blocking the vent on the rear of the cab). Mine (on the Driver's side only) has been removed for months now, and no issues whatsoever.

Here's how you find out. Go to your parts counter guy at the dealership and tell him where the part in question is located at on the vehicle. He'll pull up a picture of the area, and if it's a part of the vehicle, it will have a part number and part name on it. That's what I did for the A pillar driver's side, grab handle. You can order them. The reason I didn't order a grab handle was because I don't know if my airbag will function to save my life, or even if it will fit with the airbag there. They sell it because they put 'em on the ranger raptors in different countries, because in different countries, their crash test standards ars lower than in the US.

Nope, wouldn’t be in every one of them if just a left over piece.

My parts guy and his boss who runs parts, the body shop and pre-delivery had never seen it. The parts guy said he looked at everything related and there is no associated part number and no description in the delivery instructions for removal. The manager said he was going to check the inventory. I told him while I was waiting, I looked at all 5 of the Rangers on the lot and they had them.
