First oil change?

Keep in mind that these 3.0 Ecoboost engines are turbocharged & because they are force fed they have considerable blow by past the pistons meaning that soot gets by the piston rings allowing the oil to become contaminated. There are screens in the oil feed lines for the turbos that the soot will build up on over time restricting & in some cases completely block off causing failure of the turbo bearings in the cross shaft area. I will be changing my oil at 1,000 miles initially & every 3,000 miles thereafter. I don't care what the oil life monitor says!!

1000 miles really is too early for first oil change. Especially if you plan on switching to full synthetic. Things won’t get a chance to fully wear in.

Also, many oil changes on these engines that have had samples sent to blackstone labs disprove your theory.
You can go 5000+ miles without any issues or soot buildup!

Following oil change was at 1000

All oil changes for my remaining ownership of the vehicle will be at 3000 mile intervals. Bit this isn't my daily driver.

That’s actually bad for your engine to do the initial oil change that quickly. Especially if you switch it to full synthetic.
Not to mention, just a waste of time and oil…

I never follow the oil life monitor because it's set at the factory for a specific interval, time, or mileage and doesn't reflect actual real world situations or differences in owners driving style and/or habits.

I normally do the first oil change, on any new vehicle I buy, around the 1500 to 2500 mile range and use full synthetic oils.

My Ranger Raptor literally arrived 2 days before I needed to leave to go back and visit family (1632 miles one way), so it got it's break-in on the trip averaging 75 to 85 mph on the Interstate, which was 85% of the trip.

I just changed it's oil and filter last week with 3300 miles on the odometer.

3-5k is fine. Really depends more on the oil and such. Have owned plenty of turbo cars.

My dealer recommend 5k for first oil change then to follow the monitor unless I was towing or stressing the truck heavily.

I make my mind up depending on what's written on the filter and bottle of oil. I don't necessarily go that long, but that's how I judge it. Neither the engineer that wrote the manual nor the oil life monitor knows what oil & filter I'm using.
If the mileage interval isn't on the filter box and oil bottle, you shouldn't be using it.

I did my first oil change at 3500.

Dealership told me that was a bit early and the mindset that you should do the first oil change early due to perceived manufacturing contaminates is an outdated view that isn't relevant for new cars. He said just stick to every 5000 miles for this engine.

I change oil in my vehicle yearly. I only put about 3k a year on them. So I just change it once a year.

The concept of early oil changes is outdated, but not entirely irrelevant. In my GT350, I changed the oil as soon as I got it home (100 miles), not so much for the contamination (there is still engine building materials that are in the oil: silicone, assembly lube, etc.), but because I wanted a conventional oil in the car for break-in. Drove it relatively hard with Pennzoil 5W-20 for the next 900 miles, and changed to full synthetic Mobil1 0W-40 at around 5000 mile OCIs ever since.

The result of that procedure is that I still have none of the oil usage issues common to the 5.2L FPC engines in the GT350 platform.

Because this engine isn't built like the 350's with its low-tension oil rings and other race parts, I agree that you'll probably be fine with not doing an early initial OC. The filter does a pretty good job of getting most of the assembly gunk out. I don't agree, however, that it's not a worthwhile investment of 50 bucks, especially if you stick with semi-synthetic Motorcraft oil.

The Ford technician said mileage is an indicator, but the actual engine hours can suggest doing the changes at less than the recommended mileage. Current recommendations from Ford are (for synthetic) 10K miles or 450 engine hours. My choice for intervals is every 5K miles, but each owner can decide.
This might be especially true if you auto-start a lot and do a lot of idling
