Can you post a picture of it?

I was able to buy the towbar and the 7-pin outlet from a crashed ranger and when installing it I found a connection plug under my car and connected it hoping it would work right off because I have the towing menu in my sync4 screen.

It did not work so I decided to scan a friend's Ranger to see if there was something I could change on Forscan so it would work. I activated everything related to trailer but nothing changed. Then I realized my friend's car had a module called TRM (Trailer Module), and mine didn't.

I will take a pic tomorrow, you also should have a connector that looks like this as well, it is the one that is for the 7 pin. New harness plugs into as well.

I just added a Drawtite receiver from Amazon, $150. Curt has a wiring harness that supposedly connects there, but also has additional wires that need to be ran up to the front of the cab. I can't understand why that's necessary, when all the wires required for the 7-pin are there already.

Don't forget you still need a brake controller. That get plugged in next to kick panel on driver side.

Yeah, I think that is what I need. I only need the cable that goes from the harness connector to the bumper, and the 7-pin connector. I don't need to swap out the whole harness that has all the reverse sensor connectors. Did the 7-pin come with the entire bumper harness?

Well unfortunately Ford has that harness bundle into the the back up sensors, so that is what I had to get.🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I took another look at the harness on my truck. I see that the 4-pin wiring is also wrapped in with the rest of the harness.

I had the same issue. 2025 Ranger 4x4 2.7 with a 4-pin connector, no tow package. I needed a 7 pin for towing my RV. Also ordered the Redarc controller and used a pig tail for the Ford Bronco. All wires are already in place so no need to run anything extra.

I used this pig tail for the Redarc controller to plug into the trucks wire harness by the kick panel.

I ordered the Curt hitch from eTrailer 2025 Ford Ranger Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"

And also ordered the 7 pin pig tail from eTrailer. Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector CURT Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring C96GJ

I cut the OEM 4 pin plug off (under the truck by rear bumper), I left about 6" of wire from that plug.

I took the Curt 7 pin plug and pulled the plug apart (it's the same plug as the OEM 4 pin plug)I also pulled the OEM plug apart and used the OEM pins and inserted them into the Curt 7 pin plug.

Once all the wires I needed inserted into the 7 pin plug I soldered the wires together. The 7 pin Curt plug already has 4 wires inserted into the plug and 2 wires that are not inserted into the plug (Break and 12V Power). I just took the OEM wires and stuck them in the Curt plug then soldered all wires together. It looks like an OEM plug right form the factory. Everything works except the backup wire, I did not have an extra pin for that one and I never use the backup wire for anything, so I left it blank.

FYI. The factory 12v is orange and break is blue. Match what the OEM plug pin location for the Break and 12V and you should be good to go.

That's probably the best way to do it considering what is available.
But all the wires needed for the 7/4 pin are already on the bumper harness.
It would be even easier if Curt just made a connector with all the wires and pins already there so that no cutting or soldering would be needed. Just plug and play.

Where did you mount the 7-pin? And does that big connector also have the 4-pin like the OEM plug does?

Curt was making the 7 pin pig tail and I had on order from eTrailer but Curt canceled it and made the one I listed in my post. Honestly all they had to do was pin the 2 wires into the plug, I can't for the life of me understand why they did not do that, It's all I did.

I mounted the 7Pin to the Tow Hitch, there is a bracket for it. It's not the best location but for me will do right now. The connector does not have a 4 pin port just the 7 pin only.

After I get back from my trip, I'm going to order the Ford 7/4 pin all in one connector. It should plug into the curt harness. I'll also need to drill the hole next to the license plate, I don't like it hanging down under the truck. I have a feeling when I'm on a trail a rock might snag it.
