Fuel Injection Cleaner due to 10% Ethanol Gas

Anyone know if one should use the regular liquimoly or the Direct Injection cleaner or if it makes a difference ?

With gas going from 5% to the crappy 10% ethanol in my state I’d like to be proactive.

I run premium in my 2.3 FX4 but plan on keeping the car for as long as possible.

Ford recommends against the use of fuel additives and injector cleaners. Stick with stations that use top tier fuels and your injectors will stay happy and clean. In NM we’ve had 10% ethanol for years, and I have driven several vehicles over 250,000 miles without a single injdctor issue. I try to only use top tier fuels stations as much as possible.

Ethanol has been used in gasoline for decades now. Manufacturers have specifically designed the engines with this in mind. The extra 5% shouldn't make any measurable difference in carbon build up, but may result in an ever so slight MPG reduction because ethanol isn't as energy dense as gasoline. It's usually once you hit 15% that you start to see performance issues (or so I'm told. We don't have E15 in Oregon as far as I know so I've never tested it). To answer your question though, my preferred fuel additive has always been Seafoam.

If your engine has port and direct fuel injection, you are way ahead of keeping those valves a bit cleaner.

I hear 10% ethanol fuels have an overall 3% reduction in power over non-ethanol fuel. Your engine ECU is used to it though. Suggest premium fuel, as I see you use. Top Tier + fuel is good advice.

You are confusing power with MPG.
Ethanol is 33% less energy dense so it requires 3% more fuel running e10.
It actually acts as an octane booster and allows the turbos to run at full boost/power safely.

10% has been the norm around here for years. If you're running a top tier gas I wouldn't worry about a fuel additive.

I usually get fuel from Maverick because of the Nitro Card discount. Around every oil change, 4-5 thousand miles, I'll pour a bottle of Techron into the fuel tank.

You can also just add a few ounces of isopropyl (99% ONLY), this is a good portion of what seafoam and similar are.

The ethanol content has a pretty good cleaning effect for the bits that the gasoline doesn't.

I've been using marvel mystery oil here and there, but really only because I already have a bit to use up, I doubt it does anything for the 2.7. It was for my 6.4 Challenger, probably didn't clean anything, but the oils helped quiet down the fuel injector noise.

No need for fuel system cleaners with top tier fuels that contain Techron, such as Texaco and Chevron.
" Techron is a formerly patented fuel additive developed by Chevron Corporation and sold in its fuel operations (including Texaco and Caltex). You're looking at a generic eco-blog that is copying and pasting data meant for old carbureted lawnmowers and classic cars. The author is mathematically confusing BTUs (energy density) with actual output.
Yes, E10 has 3% fewer BTUs, which means your fuel economy (MPG) drops by 3% because the computer has to spray a fraction more fuel to compensate. But it does not drop your horsepower.
In fact, the article explicitly notes that ethanol increases octane and knock resistance. Because our 6g Rangers are turbocharged, they are highly knock-limited. The cooling effect of that 10% ethanol allows the Ford ECU to advance timing and hold peak boost safely. If you run 87 'pure gas' vs 87 E10, the E10 will perform better on a data log every single time because the turbos love the knock resistance.
