Is there anyway to make the garage door opener buttons inactive unless the truck is running? As it is if the truck is broken into they would be able to gain entrance to my garage.

I have Wi-Fi sockets on both door opener receptacles. I disable or enable power to the door opener with my phone. Super simple and convenient.

If you have a newer chamberlain, you can go into options on the control unit, select "enable lock" or something like that, and hit ok. If you try to use a remote, the light will just blink. Keypads will still work and the button will still work. We set this every night at the same time as we put the deadbolts on the doors for the night.

You could just build a protective cover for the truck to keep people from getting in to operate the door opener. We could call it a garage.

DOH!

I kid 😁

I'll have to look at the fuse layout. The best case scenario I could think of is a hidden kill switch for the homelink buttons using the fuse socket. Would depend on what's shared.

Put tape over the buttons so it looks something else.

They only work when the FOB is present...

It never dawned on me that the Homelink buttons in the Ranger are still operable even if the truck isn't running.

I already have a Genie WiFi-enable garage door opener, so I submitted an inquiry to the company to ask if there is a way to create a rule via their app whereby disabling the garage door opener for a certain period of time, for instance between 10:00pm - 6:00am, so that it cannot be activated using any method, e.g., garage door remote control or Homelink, with the exception of the hardwired button installed inside the garage.

If not possible, then while not ideal, I may try the wifi plug or installing a wifi electrical socket idea.

My garage door opener has a “lock” button that disables the remotes but allows for control by the door controls or keyless pads. I wired the house garage button so it is inside the back door.
Mine are Chamberlain with the MyQ app. A couple years ago we left for a week. Pulled out at 4am and got about 6 hours north, I said to my wife “ did you close the garage door? “No.”
Instead of having to call someone and wait until they got off work. I closed it with the app.

My OCD about locking up the house is so bad that this is exactly why I installed a wifi-enabled garage door opener. One time, my wife and I went on a cruise and my paranoia about whether I locked the front door crept into my mind while at the cruise ship terminal that I had to call and ask a favor of my neighbor to check the front door. Since then, I've installed wifi-enabled smart locks, light switches, etc.

I keep thinking I need to fire myq up again. But I always think I left the garage door open but never do.

i can double check through cameras.

my wife switched the opener to off at the control panel when she was gone, it took me awhile to figure out it wasn’t broken

Apparently in MyQ you can set up “schedules” , but I haven’t looked into it. Might be able to prevent opening by the remote during overnight hours.

I went to set up home link on my new Ranger XLT Friday only to discover I don't have it  Is it only included on Lariat and Raptor?
