Yep, I have a 2025 Ranger now because my 2019 was totaled last year exclusively for cosmetic hail damage. The insurance determined repairing it exceeded their total threshold of 60% current value.

Man, that sucks, sorry to hear and hope you get it sorted out! My wife's previous car had hail damage, but thankfully it wasn't more than just a few dents as we caught the tail end of the storm, insurance wouldn't cover it though, so we are just left it as is and drove it that way til it needed replaced.

Do you have a garage or even something as simple as an overhead car tent? My parent's (now in their mid 60's and ret.) for years stored their 2015 F-150 outside, there was a large tree that hung over the driveway and would get sap, bird crap and debris from the tree all over it.

They ended up buying a car tent for a couple hundred dollars that lasted 9 years with little upkeep. Had hail a few times and because it was a heavy-duty rubberized tarp, it bounced off the tarp and obviously the truck was fine.

If you get frequent hail in your area and can't fit in a garage, maybe a couple hundred for a car tent might be a good idea. My raptor sits in the garage, the 3 and CX-50 sit outside, I figure if cars are gonna get storm damage, I'll keep the expensive one from it and let the daily's get hammered instead, then deal with the insurance.

Sorry to hear about the hail damage.
That would be a good time to slap some sound deadening mat like Dynamat in that roof while the headliner is down.

Just a few months ago my F150 and Flex got caught in a sudden hail storm. Needed a new roof on the house and major damage to the two vehicles. So, I feel your pain. The Flex was fixed by PDR. but the F150 hood and roof had to be replaced because aluminum does not work well with PDR.

No material is safe against hail damage. It depends on the hail size and volume. I usually have places to move vehicles when storms threaten, but two minutes is not enough time.

That was exactly what I was thinking—but the timing is off. Besides a sound deadened, I need power for Radar detector, power and video cables for f/r dashcams, antenna cable for GMRS radio, and possibly power for a Starlink mini (possibly all those on a Bulletproof Diesel billet type of rear cargo light mount). I don’t have all that stuff ready yet. I have a blend mirror mount, brand new Escort 360, and a remote wiring kit which I am experimenting with where I want to place the remote alert led and the silence button.
It’s not that difficult to drop the headliner, I can just do it later when I figure out everything else I want to put up there.

Colorado Springs and the Rockies are no strangers to hail damage....been there. The only vehicle my wife and I have that has fared the best is her 1981 GMC Jimmy. Now that's a heavy medal baby. Dang that girl loves her ride.

Two weeks ago we had a Tornado pass within miles of our house. The high winds threw golf-ball sized hail over 70mph which destroyed the top and sides of my Ranger Raptor.

It just tears my heart to see my truck get pummeled so bad—and it didn’t even get damaged as bad as our new Lexus 450h+, which cracked the $$ windshield and besides the hood and roof, dented every piece of $$ trim.

On the Raptor, my insurance adjuster started circling and counting dents in just the roof. After 170, they quit counting, and the paint marker ran out of paint. There were dents, big dents, little dents, dents on top of dents, and dents connected to dents. The dent hare hard to see in the pictures, but only the nickel-quarter sized dents are circled with paint marker.

The worst thing is, my truck doesn’t even have 5k miles on it. She was babied. Right out of the showroom she had PPF film on all the high scratch/chip areas. She was buffed to perfection and Ceramic Coated. She was immaculate—and then the sky’s parted and wrath came down on the undeserving. I am devastated.

She now is in the hands of one of the best PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) shops (friends of friends) in the area. I have seen miracles using PDR, and they promised me they would make her perfect again. If it can’t get fixed right by PDR, I’ll just get a Carbon Fiber hood, and either paint the roof black, or maybe a carbon-look wrap to cover the required body work.

I feel your pain! Yours is much worse than mine. I had my hail claim just a few days after my delivery lol. Took delivery and the next day went out of town to Austin for vacation. While on Mt Bonnell, a thunderstorm rolled in and we got hit with some huge hail, ran to the truck only to get pelted with no where to go. The sound was horrendous! Same week I called insurance to get coverage on a brand new truck, I called back and made my first claim. PDR took good care of it though and she looked good as new. Hindsight, I wish I would have had sound deadener put in when they had the headliner down. I eventually did it myself but would have been so much easier (for me lol). It hakes a huge difference in noise reduction, even rain.

Just to close this out. I got my truck back 2 days ago from the Paintless Dent Repair shop—it is immaculate! I am so impressed with the painstaking work they did. It’s hard to take a picture outside in cloudy weather, to show how clear all the panels are, but here are pics morning after it rained hard.

One of the biggest reasons I traded my F150 in for a Ranger - So it would fit in the garage.

For those that need and example of how big the DFW metroplex is, I remember the day of this storm and although we got warnings and such, it was sunny on my porch as I was watching the ugly clouds to the east.

Glad the truck is back looking new again.

Curious how your front fenders turned out. Were they able to use PDR on them?
