Let me start by saying, i know there are no trucks being built right now because of the strike, therefore no more allocations are coming until that whole situation is straightened out.

What is a sensible number of allocations to be expected to be given to dealers just based on past f150 raptors and/or bronco raptors. Is a dealership lucky to get 2 allocations a year on these types of vehicles or do they get more then that? Do allocations come out on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis? Im just trying to get an idea on what to expect.

I know there are many factors that go into this but i have dealers giving me different stories and i feel like im being lied to just to get me to place an order with them and/or pay their markups. So many dealers are acting like this is a one time production run truck or something and even if you had their next allocation, you will be waiting close to 2 years

It depends on the dealer. Nobody but Ford really knows for sure but it seems as if the dealer is selling a lot of Bronco and F150 Raptors, the chances are higher that they'll get more allocations for Ranger Raptors. My dealer said they were only supposed to get an allocation of 1 Bronco Raptor and ended up getting 5 so it's a total crapshoot

One dealer I checked got 1 (I bought it), the other dealer got 2 and they were both spoken for.

I asked this question to my dealer, and they basically said "we will get allocations, and your order will be made." They said this with confidence but I'm also taking this with a grain of salt.

But as someone else said, I don't think any of the dealers actually know. With the way things are shaping up, it wouldn't surprise me if Ford just went ahead and said all dealers for 1 more allocation on top of the original, and the rest get rolled into 2025 MY.

Given how absurdly low volume the Ranger is, I would be shocked if it was any more than 2 per model year per dealer. Even if the Ranger turns out to be a runaway success, they won’t shift production time over from the Bronco, volume will always be capped. Even at a 10% take for the Raptor, that’s less than 2 per dealer in a good high production year for Ranger (~48,000 units). Low volume on specialty models is one of the ways Ford can justify the prices.

That’s basically what I was told at the dealer I have my order in at. I’m #3 on their order list and they sound confident they will have an allocation coming for it, they just don’t know a time frame yet.

I thought allocations were only for dealer inventory and not customer orders. Do we know for sure that allocations impact orders?

beyond the "1 per dealer" initial allocation Ford has been tight lipped about the status of "additional future allocations."

It could be overall volume, it could be previous ranger sales volume, who knows.

I have been told by several dealers that even though they submit a retail order, Ford needs to provide them with an allocation for it to be scheduled/built.

I don’t know if this is something Ford said specifically in the Ranger Raptor case or not. But it seems to be how Ford has handled the f150 and bronco raptor orders up to this point from my limited research. So either dealers are playing it safe by going off their past experiences or Ford has provided them information about future Ranger Raptor retail orders

I was feeling pretty good about my order being 3rd in line at first but now after more research, I have a feeling I could be waiting quite a while

I see lots of people saying the 1 per dealer initial allocation line, but I have had multiple dealers tell me they received 2 allocations.

Ford confirmed at least 1 RR per dealership during MY24. It's a Ford Performance vehicle, meaning the dealership gets allocations based on some contingent from mothership Ford.

My primary dealership is getting only one RR allocation for MY24, based upon Ford's algorithm of normal Ranger sales reflecting RR allocations. That is a "my salesman said" statement.

However, this same dealership informed me last year about their Bronco Raptor allocations being contingent on Bronco Sport and Bronco sales. I scoffed at the time, and 2 months later Ford released the information to the public on how they calculated Bronco Raptor allocations off of Bronco Sport and regular Bronco sales. Turns out they jumped the rankings in Bronco Raptor allocations over the next two competitive Ford Dealerships in their region for two reasons: the sales of their Bronco Sports and no ADM on regular Broncos during the craziness of 2021/2022.

all comments on allocations by Ford were made before the strike and it was never a factor. I wouldn't count on them honoring anything more than the 1 Raptor to each dealer promise for 2023 calendar (not model) year.
