So, someone please tell me if I am understanding this incorrectly.
In the launch video they said the Ranger was was made 50 mm wider to accommodate more space in the cabin, bed and engine compartments, etc...
So 50 mm converted to inches is 1.96", so lets just say 2 inches. Does that mean the overall footprint expanded 2" as well? I certainly hope not.
According to Car & Driver, without the mirrors:
The 2021 F150 is currently 79.9" wide.
The 2021 Ranger is 77.8" wide. Add 2 more inches and it would basically be as wide as an F150.
Compared to other midsize, Tacoma and Colorado which are 74.4" and 74.3", respectively.
So i certainly hope they interior and engine bay remodel was 50 mm of "gained" space versus widening out the ranger.
I know I'm not the only one here that is looking to downgrade due to size of their current truck, or i know some don't want anything the size of the F150. The Bronco is even only 74.4" wide. I guess time will tell.
