Just ordered and "Redeem 1024" code gave 15% off. Hopefully Ford doesn't cancel orders again...

I went ahead and ordered them for my Raptor as well. I'm waiting on Diamondback to release a cover for the new Rangers. I called them yesterday and they said they'd release it within the next 2 months, but it would have a requirement / disclaimer that the braces are installed. Like everyone else, I'm a bit pissed off that we need to install these j-braces at all.

My dealer told me, if not putting a bed cap on the truck, the braces are not necessary. Per Ford. Your thoughts?

Yeah, I call bullshit. If a camper shell with its weight distributed equally along both rails can do it, then it's already compromised, IMO. God forbid you decide to be nice and have all your friends load up in the bed to drive across a field or down the beach to a bonfire (they'll sit on the rails), use the rails as a seat at a tailgate party, or use it to prop yourself up to grab something at the front of the bed... all scenarios that I've experienced dozens of times in my life. It's a truck that can't do truck things without additional hardware. That's a design flaw, and a serious mark against Ford.

Edit: I've mentioned this to my Ford dealer and the guys there agree it's about the dumbest thing they've ever heard of.

Ford themselves say (on the official TSB for this) that it's only necessary to install if you plan on offroading with a camper shell. They even say specifically "extreme offroad conditions".

Very likely unnecessary and a waste of money for the vast majority of people. There's a lot of chickenlittles on this forum who think crawling the mall parking lot or driving a gravel road requires j-braces.

I'll remind everyone here that there hasn't been a single 6G ranger owner that has had any confirmed/verified issues occur from not having j-braces and the trucks have been out for over 2 years now.
