That could be said about most features. If Push button start drives someone to another truck, than they didn't really want the ranger imo...
Said another way... "If Ford really wanted their business, they would've offered Push Button Start on a $35,000+ truck."

That could literally be said for any feature not offered on certain trims. Why can't I get auto rain sensing wipers, or matrix headlights on an xlt?

Because the line between trims needs to be drawn somewhere.

Ya but their base features on the competitions trucks.

And the other brand trucks are also missing basic things that should be standard for this price.

None of them offer an automatic rear-window like the ranger.

The GM trucks don't have a garage door opener. They don't have fold-down rear seats

The GM trucks force you into headunit menus to control headlights and there have already been issues with the button not working.

among many other tradeoffs. Each truck has good and bad things. The ranger has just as many "base features" on the ranger that are missing on the tacoma/colorado/canyon/frontier.

I had many GM trucks over the years. With that said yes they have features that Ford doesn't and same goes for Ford. Like said above GM doesn't have the power rear slider. GM also doesn't remember you had fog lights or seat warmers on the last time you drove. I like how Fords remember that. GM remembers you had cruise control on and it is on the next time you drive. Just have to hit set. Ford doesn't do that. There are give and takes both ways. B&O stereo in Ford is much better than Bose in GM. Ford seats are more comfy. Ford now has 48" between wheels in bed.

I’ll be looking to see if job 2 adds extended cab, bringing North America choices that Australia and other countries already have.

Ya, I got a canyon now.... That Bose radio is trash, wasn't worth the money it cost me. And those 6 way seats are the most uncomfortable seats i've had since my crappy Jeep liberty.
I think what I hated most is the reliability of my truck. Ford would have to actually sabotage a truck to make it worse than the Canyon I have. (OVER $20k in repair bills over 6 years). So I'm coming back to Ford after a 20-year hiatus. I doubt they could do worse than what I have.

Auto rear window is not a basic option, it's a $1000 upgrade on the XLT. That's what I want.... An option to add.
Doesn't mean I want or need it, but give us the option without having to jump trim levels with stuff I will never use and don't care for. Hell, the For Escape entry level has push button start.
I'll pay the couple of bucks for it..... just let me have the option. That's my complaint. Sure, there will be things that are manufacture specific, I'm sure the GM guys are mad about an auto rear window. And I'll miss that Button for my heated seats (buttons are better than shuffling through a screen). If they already have it, offer it.
