softopper makes great tops!! i had a hard top on my 87 wrangler and bought a softopper for the 10 months of the year we have good weather in south texas. their customer support is even better then their products.

the neighbor's garage burned down one night and melted the passenger side windows on my softopper. i emailed asking them about how to buy replacement parts and told them what had happened. they shipped me new part for free. i came home from work one day and the package was on the porch with them saying they were sorry about what happened and they were just going to replace the parts, no charge, since it was out of anyone's control on what happened.

how often does a company do that?

Interesting!

I had an ARE topper on my 2022 Ranger and I loved the functionality of it. However, my softball playing oldest daughter is about to start college and my coaching days are over....so I don't need the storage for softball gear anymore...however, I'd still like the topper for trips/vacations.

That's a nice compromise for someone not needing/wanting a topper 100% of the time....and it's about $2500 cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely consider that....

Any cons whatsoever?

Also, in terms of toppers in general, to me there's no cons except for the price. I loved my ARE topper with windoors. It had a lockable rear window that operated with the fob...it's nice to have lockable, dry storage. I would have a little bit of water get in the rear corners after rain or a car wash, but it was minimal....no biggie. Also, I like having the extra 200ish pounds in the rear....plus it should provide a slight, but noticeable, increase in fuel efficiency.
Hey sorry for the late reply. No real negatives to me other than the obvious “someone could just slash it” but again, this is for the rare occasions when I need to take my Great Dane with me…

I have been trying to deside how i want you to setup my 2025 RR.
‘I know I want a covered bed. Trying to deside bed cover or topper.
I have been searching high and low around the interwebs trying to find pics of different setups.

I like to try and find as many pics as I can of stuff like this to help visualize them, and it generally helps me make up my mind as to what I would like best, both looks and function.

Below is about all the pics I could find ofirst my current front running options I am looking at.

I think I have it narrowed down to either a Diamondback 270.

Or an ARE topper. As far as topper go I really like their rear glass how it’s form fitted to the contours of the tailgate.

I went with the A.R.E. CX classic over the evolve, the upfitter said it was a few thousand canadian cheeper, and the electrical lock they had a lot of issues with them. its the same cap besides the glass basically.

Get the roof tracks, that way you can put stuff on the cap. Eventually Im getting the assend basket, or a platform, then on either I can mount a roof top tent like the insta post attached, or as in the A.R.E promo video put a kayak carrier on it, or cross bars and put a box up there. I'm building it so if we either wanna take the camper, or just tents. have an awning on the cap, Ill have the truck set up to just go.

The pictures with a tent on the topper use toppers that are either aluminum or steel. These fiberglass toppers, unless reinforced, generally don't carry that much weight. For example, my Leer holds 600 static, but only 200 dynamic (meaning while moving). It'll carry kayaks with no problem, but maybe be careful with a tent and multiple people.

I am now leaning towards the CX Evolve now.

I do like the more traditional sliding side windows like you have I want them with the pet screens too.

However, I mainly drawn to the Evolve for that form fitter rear glass.
I really like how that back window looks on the Evolve and the Revo both have that formed rear class hatch that matches the shape of the trucks tailgate.

Other than the back glass the CX Evolve should be very similar to your spec.

The power lock is optional on the CX Revo and Evolve.
Based on what I have read with problems on the power keyless lock system, I am sticking with the standard Keyed lock on the back glass.

I am waiting on my quote to come back from the local A.R.E. dealer.
I saw where the MSRP on the CX Evolve topper in bases form was $3300 US.
I am optioning it with the following.
Tilt and slider function front glass for easier cleaning.
Framed sliding side glass with pet screens
Dual rope lighting.
Grey carpet trim
Full Bed Rug
Standard Keyed back glass lock.

I am sort of expecting the quote to come in around $4200-4500 installed.

My CX Classic came with regular screens. Ibwas going to get the pet screens. but to keep costs down I didnt.

definitely get the fold down slider front window. I wanted it. but went with just the slider to keep costs down.

I originally had the dual led rope lights spec'd. but it was almost 400 Canadian option. I added my own lights, with a magnetic switch, so it turns on automatically. cost me 18 bucks on sale or somein. lol

came with the black/grey headliner for free

I got the dual t handles instead of the single, but that slam latch is neat.mine was just shy of 5k canadian installed. was 31/3200 plus tx and install.

trying to upload video I took of the lights I installed.
