I brought home a new 2025 Ranger Lariat 2.7 yesterday, after a couple weeks of agonizing stress over which vehicle to buy. My 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie was getting up there in miles and it was time for something new. I’ve never been brand loyal, so I considered all the options but was very skeptical of the reliability of the other brands. It came down to a Ranger or F150 XLT. I drove the F150 and didn’t like it at all. But the Ranger was a blast! Tons of fun to drive—I felt like I’m driving a go kart!
You all unknowingly made the deal possible, so thanks for that. During the test drive, the transmission did a hard downshift as we approached a stoplight. The salesman brushed it off, saying it would go away. After some research on this forum, I learned of the various transmission quirks and that it just needed to warm up a bit. Hearing your stories put my mind at ease and made the deal possible. I still ended up with an ESP, for the first time ever, but was able to negotiate it down a bit thanks to quotes from the Granger site.
So far, I’m loving the truck (after just a day
). Coming from a full size makes me nervous I’ll miss that functionality, but we’ll see. My back was sore after driving it around yesterday but surely there’s a comfy seat position, I just have to find it.
