New 2025 Lariat, 2.7L - Should I get Ford Protect?

To start, I haven't owned a Ford in a decade, so I have no idea what their reliability really is. I know the 2025's are only the second year of this new gen, but the 2.7L has been around for quote a while now.

My truck had the FX4 and Advanced Towing packages and tons of electronic gizmos. We will be towing a camper outside of winter, and maybe occasionally hauling lawn stuff (mulch, coil etc..)

Is it worth it to get Ford Protect? I turned down the aftermarket warranty the dealer was trying to scare me into buying. Looking at Ford Protect, the prices seem reasonable, but I'm getting paralysis by analysis with the different care levels, and mileage/time durations.

I think I've zeroed in on the 10/125k as we usually are a 10-13k mile/yr driver... But again, don't know if it's really needed, and if it is, which package to get.

Really appreciate all you help here.

Depends on how long you plan on keeping it? The 2.7 is a great and proven engine, I would‘nt worry on that portion. The computers are the items you may have issues with or not, crap shoot. We have a fleet of Fords,(30) transits, F150s and one Ranger most of the repairs have been just maintenance, one computer in a 21 lariat. Cost on that was $2,400.00.

Oh, I forgot to mention we typically keep our vehicles for a long time. Especially since this is our camper hauler, we want to keep it for 10 years or more

I’m looking at this as well. 10/125k with $50 deductible seems to be the sweet spot (for those of us who keep cars that long). It is also transferable.

I went with Zieglers but Granger and Flood have good deals. There are a few threads on here about this. Mine was Ford Premium Care 100k for $2175

I always get a Ford extended service plan. As others point out, one bad computer module or turbo unit can pretty much pay for the cost of a plan. I always add in the key and lighting options, especially on the Lariats and above. Just looking at the replacement costs of just the steerable Ranger Lariat headlights is enough to give you heartburn. And loosing one key while you are out fishing or hiking easily makes key replacement worthwhile. Now, the wife's 2025 King Ranch Hybrid...yeah, that Protect warranty was the very first thing I bought her for that truck. I think that everything that could/would break on that truck after the factory warranty would exceed the cost of the extended warranty. I've used Flood Ford ESP for quite a few years now and their pricing has always been pretty much the best.

What's the consensus on which plan to get? Premium covers everything, so I'm kind of leaning towards that.

I always go Premium because that's pretty much a direct extension of the 3/36000 warranty. Also, its the only one that covers Emissions and Audio.
