These are all over the place down in southern AZ, that and the BYD pickup
China sent a pile of the BYD Shark to Mexico. Supposed to get 31 MPG according to some trade magazines. Wonder if certain Ford or Toyota parts are going to fit, given the tariffs on China? China has been tearing Tesla and other EV and PHEV vehicles apart for a while. They can't innovate to save their rear end but they are expert industrial spies.

Looks ugly both inside and out. The interior looks incredibly cheap. The brushed aluminum style plastic casing around the cupholders and shifter looks atrocious. Typical Stellantis quality.

Just wanted to add.
That truck pictured has really nothing to do with the US spec version.
I think those articles posted around the web just use that truck to show something in their articles.
The US market Dakota has not been released yet, I am not sure, but I don't think they even have a prototype built yet. I think the US version if it is even called a Dakota, is still in the design phase.
It was simply confirmed to be in the works and will be built alongside the Gladiator.

That was my read on it as well. Heck, Stellantis didn't even state that it'd be branded a RAM, but that's the logical conclusion given their portfolio.

I'm not really interested in one. About the time this new midsize is released, I'm hoping to be wondering if it's time to trade in for a Ranger Tremor.

The original Dakota had a great game plan. Come in with size and powertrains that Ford and GM and Toyota and Nissan just didn't have. It worked pretty well for them. Even when the Dakota eventually went away in the 2000s it was still the only compact/midsize truck with a V8.

If they play their cards right and give this new truck a 6' bed, 5.7L Hemi, and class leading tow capacity they will sell a TON of them. There's no reason for them not to. The Durango is essentially the SUV version that competes in this size class, and it's got THREE different V8s to pick from. All they need is the 5.7L and a 6' bed and that will differentiate the Dakota from the rest of the pack enough to sell an absolute ton of these trucks.

But, alas, I feel like they are going to screw it up and put that new I-4TT engine in it with some kind of hybrid crap and a 5' bed and it'll be DOA.

Mitsubishi still makes the Triton. Just not in the North American market.

I have more confidence in buying the Ranger.

I would not give my money to Stellantis
I just sold my 2019 Ram 2500 diesel. Drove it to 147k miles, the transmission failed and I decided it was time to downsize before something else major happened. The people at my local dealer were all nice enough, and I was treated well but OMG soooo many problem vehicles in the lot waiting for service. Jeeps & Wagoneers mostly but a lot of pickups too - and hybrids. I suspect quality control with Stellantis is falling. The dealer is struggling to keep up with the traffic. There’s only one tech who’s able to work on hybrids. The guy before me in line with a Grand Cherokee hybrid was told it would take 2 1/2 weeks before the car could even be looked at. No loaner cars available. Yikes.

I test drove a Power Wagon right before I bought my RR, I flat out told the sales guy that it was way WAY too big, inside and out. "When they make a Dakota Power Wagon, I will be interested." He had nothing to say to that.

My RR makes me smile every time I see it, and especially every time I drive it.
