Just had my diff replaced by the ford dealer, although they did keep my truck for 2 months because of a gasket on backorder... overall I'm happy they replaced the diff with a new assembly and that decision was made straight after the tech drove it and heard the whine. They did give me a loaner but I hear loaners are hard to come by depending on how many vehicles they have currently to loan. Besides that all is well and will be changing my rear diff fluid aftwr 500 mile break in. Will also be changing the front diff and transfercase fluid ahead of schedule @ 7k miles as I got the truck with 3k and haven't done those at all. Engine oil is getting changed every 3k. I'll be doing rear diff no more than every 30k. Front diff and transfer probly the same although they probly could go longer.I have the same problem on my Ranger Raptor. Whining from diff just started after riding in the desert sand. Only 6500 miles and it was quiet as a mouse before no issues. I hope ford fixes or replaces it under warranty, I wont accept living with a failing diff. The wine must go!
