I've been scouring over the internet looking for possibly some marketing images or something that would adequately show what the undercarriage of a new Ranger Raptor looks like. Something to show the skid plates, control arms - most specifically the front half. I'll often find pictures from the OEM showing off the cool new bits they've got on their new toy, but for whatever reason I'm coming up short.

Something like this:

Look for a video on youtube by "Truck King"; they typically drive the truck they're reviewing onto a ramp that allows them to walk underneath and while doing so they point out the skid plates, whether they're steel or aluminum, and talk about whatever else they find interesting. I know they've done a raptor and I think a regular ranger too.

EDIT: here's the link -> ...and I've attached a screenshot of the video

PERFECT.

Screenshot from that same video below showing what I was looking for specifically. There's these three threaded holes near the stern side of that black skid plate near the sway bar. I was crawling underneath mine and was thinking something was missing!

Is this Ford just leaving the door open for the aftermarket? Why would these holes be here - and be threaded?

There are threaded holes ALL over the truck. I’ve wondered why may times. I’m guess production used them as mounting points for assembly and things of that nature.

There is a lady on youtube who does auto reviews. Go to: sarah-n-tuned, ranger raptor, before the test drive she goes over the whole under body .

the mounting points during assembly are probably what some of them are. since everything is basically automated on the assembly lines, maybe the arms that carry and align them, screw into some of those?

i have never been to a ford production plant but i know bmw uses lots of robo arms to carry stuff. and when i went to boeing for lean 6S on the ah64 and ch47 assembly lines, they used alot fo robotics too. not so much arms but for moving the chassis down the lines

I was installing some lights recently and drop a clip under the truck. When I was looking for it, I noticed I had two bolts partially threaded it those holes. I was concerned so I tried to tighten them up and was only able to get one about halfway in (on the left in the picture below). I then went to watch a couple videos as others here have stated (sarah-n-tuned, savage geese) and saw that there were no bolts in those holes. I ended up deciding that they were most likely there for some assembly purpose and just never were removed.

These are the pictures I had on my phone. They just mostly show my new RCI skid plates. Not sure if that would be helpful for you or not.

do those also thread into your side step holes? they look suspiciously like the same bolts
