Got a message this am that there was an update. Then got the following after. So I’m glad Ford can do this and not have to take the truck in. But it’s also a bit unnerving that it can be done this way too! 17 minutes parked, vehicle off, unoccupied and had to lock it to get the update. I’ve not noticed any difference. My guess is the fix was to fix a specific race condition that would trigger the event

Will be waiting a bit to do the airbag recall until I find a dealership that I can trust in the Minnesota area.

Hey Joe,

Not having gone down this path with the FordPass app yet, I'm courious.....what triggers the automatic download? Although I'm signed up for FordPass, I don't recall having to sign up for Early Access....or is that part of FordPass.

I'd appreciate any guidance you can provide as I'm hearing crickets from my dealership short of "bring it in."

When I was digging around the Ford site I somehow stumbled on the Early Access Program and applied to it. This was the first communication I got from them after I signed up six months ago

So not sure how to answer what else triggered it. But my guess is since I did not get right in to have the recall done, I must have matched up in a VIN search and then got a push for the update

It’s been a couple of days and the Ford app and VIN database still show that the vehicle is not completed its update so I’ll keep an eye on it

Joe

Thanks Joe,

I just applied for the Early Access Program and will see what will be.

Deb and I our off exploring in the Ranger this morning looking for the ATV trailheads here in Teller County, Colorado as we just acquired a new side-by-side.

Have a great weekend!

If anyone else starts getting the chirping sound when the hit and left off the brakes the first few times after each start, let me know. Since the update a few of us have this issue and ford dealers are refusing to acknowledge it

FYI when the tech came out to update mine back in early September (also in MN) he said that even if I had updated it myself, they would still have to verify its installation to clear the vehicle of the recall.

I'm not sure what triggers it but be sure "Automatic Updates" is enabled in the Ford Pass.
As soon as I enabled it, the app updated to just Ford app, it's no longer the Ford Pass app.

The update notes say:
"This update improves the way your
vehicle receives and transmits
software resulting in a more
dependable update experience.

Software updates are designed to
help make your vehicle better over
time."

See this link for info on Software Updates.

I have seen this on other posts, and I indeed started getting it after the update, however, I drove a 25 F150 loaner a few days now, and it does the exact same thing?
