Noticed some painted emblems on Ebay but cost way too much. Figured I would DIY it. Had some time this weekend to remove the rear Ford emblem off the tailgate. The chrome was driving me nuts. Went down to a local automotive paint shop and they mixed a can up for me in Shelter Green. Everything cost me $45 for all materials.

Once removed you will need to Dremel out the black tabs on the back that holds all the pieces together. Just be careful some areas break easy. I learned the hard way pulling too hard. I scuffed up the chrome as good as I could. Paint never sticks great to these surfaces. Primed and painted and put back together with black silicone.

Thank you PA RR, if you were local I would totally help. With how tedious and fragile these are taking apart I don't won't to be responsible for breaking your emblem or possible paint damage shipping back. OEM Emblems alone are $100-140 if I screw up. And im good at screwing up

As hot as it has been in Phoenix already this year, that nice looking paint job will bake cure real fast. Really looks good on your truck.

I would think you can get one at a junkyard fairly cheap. Maybe buy a couple to experiment on. Just a thought 🤔

No joke, its been pretty bad lately. With 105 for the high over the weekend it helped for sure. The mornings were perfect to spray!

That's a good idea, might be a tough find with the small numbers of Raptors now. The normal Ranger has a blue emblem so that portion would need to be painted too. But for sure an option!

Mine is Ruby Red with BAP. Reading this inspired me to consider doing it to mine. Not sure about the front emblem with the camera because if I break that, there's issues. But I do like the idea of finding one at a junkyard to practice. Not so much the actual painting, but the taking it apart. Figuring out the finer points... not sure I'll find any, but it all starts with a dream, right?

Both of yalls @White willy @NYMPHS look like they came off the assembly line that color. Perfect job!
I tried tinting one of mine and it looks like i “tried”. I ordered some new ones to do correctly. Thanks for the detailed breakdown and inspiration.
