I have been reading some threads and it appears that the actual techs and service advisors are unhappy with this method.

OTH I hate the two dealers closest to me, and maybe this is a way to reduce my contact with their clueless staff and depressing, dirty, painted concrete waiting rooms. I have been thinking that I might try MS for the side airbag recall. I have a warm, roomy well lit garage and doughnuts for the technician…

Thanks for any comments.

I'm guessing the techs will be from those same dealers though. I'd rather talk to a tech than the serv advisor. Chat about the car, what they are seeing, etc. So might be good way to bypass the front office and go direct to repair man!

I'm torn on pickup-delivery vs MS. We use pickup delivery for our luxury car. It is expected at that price point. I haven't tried at Ford yet or MS. I like the idea of them being in the shop w/ full access to their equipment. And they come get the car so no effort on my part.

Two dealers near me do mobile service, at twice the cost of taking it to them.
I don't need that. I make an appointment with my dealer. In and out in less than an hour.
Just enough time to look at what's new on the lot, but not too much time to convince myself I want a new one.

I had the brake recall done by a mobile tech.

he was on time, right in time, and left 16 minutes later. Was courteous and clean.

i asked him about doing the 10k check up service.

i would definitely do it again.

i spent a whole afternoon at the dealer to install my keypad for goodness sake.

It's a recall won't cost a cent.

I live in the Denver area, had Ford mobile out twice, once for the Procal tune and once for tire rotation and oil change on my RR. they were on time and did great work.

I live rural. Ford Fantasy: A. My dealer has a sign they will pickup the vehicle, service it, and bring it back. B. Or come to you and do what is needed. C. And provide a courtesy car, if they need to keep it. Ford Reality: A. They will not come because I am 20.4 miles away and outside their driving area. They are in a small city that is 13.2 sq miles. B. They won't come. C. They have no courtesy cars. They have a shuttle driver but I am outside his range.

I have only used Mobile Service once. They did my brake booster recall and I had a very similar experience as “purdyd” - they were early, and were done in 15 minutes. I had a couple questions the guy explained to me, and he was very courteous. If the dealer I trust was around me I would consider doing that again.

I’m nervous to get the airbag recall done by even my most trusted dealer. Just too many things to take off. But I’m biting the bullet in mid-November and taking it down to where I bought the truck. Besides, I don’t think that can get fixed by mobile service, but can’t remember if I heard there here or somewhere else.

There are a lot of options for mobile service out there.....Make sure that your local dealer explains what can/cannot be done by their crew. For instance....I am the Fixed Operations Director at a progressive FORD Dealer in Kansas. We offer both pick up and delivery as well as Mobile Service. We are a relative small community so our mobile service options are limited to basic recalls, batteries and jump starts. Our pickup and delivery is very busy and receiving great comments from our customers. But again, there are limitations based on distance from the Dealership. I hope that your local dealerships will treat all of us fairly and with Consistently Remarkable Service.

Feel free to reach out to me if anyone has any specific questions dealing with warranty or other FORD process. I will try to help when I can.

Just took delivery of my 2025 Shelter Green Ranger Raptor. Procal tune installed. What a truck!!!

John, I had my 2024 Ranger XLT FX4 4X4 last oil change done by the DuPratt Ford Auburn, CA. mobile service. What a great experience. Was able to tinker around watching the service tech perform the oil change, tire rotation and vehicle check. Tech was knowledgeable and performed all services as if I did it myself. He completed the job within an hour. Can't speak any higher about this service.

If you were a technician, would you want the owner of the vehicle hovering around while you were working on their vehicle? I wouldn't.

I prefer going to the dealership. The shop foreman knows I'm particular with my vehicles and keeps an eye on things for me.

Build a rapport with your dealership. Stick with one service advisor, get to know them and the technician. A couple of occasional Tim Horton's gift cards can go a long ways too.
