Houston Tx ~300ft above sea level,

update related to diagnosis… dealership service manger just called me and asked if I was satisfied with maintenance yadayada I told him about what I really wanted them to look at and he said bring it on by in the morning, ask for me, I’ll go grab a tech from the back and we will take a ride and see what we (I imagine the service tech) thinks it could be… so hopefully will be able to report on a possible culprit by 10am tomorrow !! Fingers crossed!

Looking forward to seeing what they say. I’m still trying to get with the shop foreman at my dealer. No luck yet. Kinda as expected.

So I got to have it looked at by the “heavy line” tech at the dealership, took him for a drive and the noise was audible, he does admit it sounds unusual, but he was very adamant that if something was out of the ordinary, that it would throw a generic code “PZ297” or “PZ299” I can’t recall which one, but it’s a generic code that identifies any problem with the boost, bov, air intake system or anything with the turbos… he said he hates that code because it could be a lot of things”

they did notice that my stock airbox had broken a tab (1of the 3 in the back) but no way that was causing it, he said a CAI would make it sound worse (louder whistle) but it’s up to individual dealerships to decide if it would cause a warranty claim to be invalid, but if they send out a ford engineer, game over he said, they will blame anything on any mod they can find… his words.. they said that a turbo problem would be protected by a 60k mile warranty on drivetrain, I never saw that as a perk when I purchased..

the solution: “just drive it” lol thanks guy! But at least they looked at it. Did not perform a smoke test… so I may still try to get that done

That's kinda lame. I would get a boost leak check done.

Good to know. I just what to know what that sound is.
That tech said that the airbox may not be seated properly, i don’t really appreciate how flimsy that closure mechanism is, i think if I can save up enough I will buy the fabulous fabrication air intake (snorkel and dual filters-one for each turbo) if there’s still a noise… shit upgraded turbos and downpipes… but yea probably a smoke test would definitely shed some light on the possible cause

I'm going to check mine. But I just had the filter out for cleaning after a dusty ass run. I know it's tight and there is no way that would cause that sound since it's "pre" everything. It feeds the turbo's.

Hey did you ever perform the smoke test? I stopped by @Goosetuned at TRR and he told me to watch the boost level after 3000rpms. I saw it hit 17psi on the start of the long course. Then by Saturday I thought I blew a shock or something but the BOV was so loud… after running the third (mid length, and most fun) course, I popped the hood and noticed this:

Good to meet you man!!

Those plastic bits stink when raptoring the raptor. Look at the Process west crossover. IT's the best

Not yet. I’m actually at the dealer now and I’m going to have them listen to the noise. I’ll keep you posted.

Drove with the shop foreman. He does not think it’s normal. He sees it only happens under boost and even noted that it happens at low boost. He suspects the drivers side turbo. It’s scheduled to go in on Tuesday of next week.
