My rear seat back latch is not latching. When I try to to put the seat back up the parts just bang against each other. Seems like the latch is sprung closed. Any ideas how to fix it?

Try pulling up or removing your rear passenger headrest. If that works I believe the latch position has to be adjusted.

I had the same problem. I tried pulling the latch and shutting it. Didn’t work. Slammed it had and it shut.

Mine was like that as well. Have to slam the seat back to get it to lock. I was just pushing it like my old truck and that don't work.

It's hard to tell but it looks like there's a signature of the latch contacting to one extreme of the opening tolerance, likely hitting the catch housing. Presumably, there should be some ability to adjust the latch. You could barely loosen the fasteners to allow it to move when closing, then reopen and it should have shifted, then retighten. It may only need a minor adjustment. If you're not comfortable have your dealer do it.

I understand what you're asking, but isn't that a warranty issue? I get that simple fixes are more convenient than a dealer trip, but I'm guessing that's covered.

I had the similar issue when I picked up my 24' Ranger last July........I had to really slam it to latch on.

I had the same issue with my 24 XLT. I tried everything. I removed the striker and added shims to it, repositioned it, tried putting headrests to the highest position, slammed it, and nothing worked. Then I figured it out. If you hold your hand on the front of the back seat cushion right where the latch is located on the back and slam the seat back while at the same time pushing hard on the seat where the latch is, it will latch. Without pushing in on the cushion where the latch is as you try to close it, the latch just bounces off the striker. The latch needs to be pushed into the striker at the same time as closing it because the seat back is so light and flimsey it doesn't have enough weight to trigger the latch, it just bounces off of it. Nothing more than just a poor design.

Definitely should be covered under warranty. Mine was including the damage to the seat back. Mine now closes normally. I don't have to do anything special like gmarcucio is suggesting.
