I just hit 10k miles and have a day off so I decided to try to rotate the tires.

Unfortunately, I discovered how much travel these shocks actually have, and none of my jack stands(two different pair) are tall enough to keep the tires off the ground.

How does anyone do this without an actual lift?

I haven't done it on my Ranger but my previous trucks that sat higher I used the jack on the gear pumpkin and just put the jacks underneath the axles by the tires for safety, they weren't actually touching the axle. It was there just in case the jack lost it's hydraulic pressure.

I just rotated my tires last Saturday just using a jack in my garage. I was at 5k miles. Did one tire at a time using the spare instead of jack stands. It wasn't a problem.

Unfortunately doing the recommended cris cross requires the whole truck up in the air.

Ended up finding a local Mavis who did it for free.

Unless you already have them, Harbor Freight (and others) have taller jack stands (6 ton), I've used a pair on my son's Doge 3500 and it's pretty tall. Also, I've built wood blocks to put under jack stands, out of 2x4s and 4x4s, for added height... works real well.

No it doesn't require truck in the air. Jack up truck replace LR with spare. Move jack to LF, install LR. Move jack to RR, install LF. Move jack to RF, install RR. Move jack to LR, install RF. Replace spare back under truck. So rear tires went straight to front. Front tires criss crossed to rear.

My wheels are aftermarket, I cannot use my spare.

You aren’t leaving the spare on. In his explanation, you’re just using the spare as a placeholder as you rotate around the truck.
Ahh, thanks for the clarification. Yeah, that's a lot more work than getting it done for free at the Mavis.

What are going to do if you have a flat tire if you can't use your spare?

You only got 4 new wheels/tires vice 5!?!?!

Sir...lol.
I have had multiple cars without spare tires in the past. If I get a flat, I call a tow truck. Not a big deal. I could throw on my spare worst case scenario, it's the exact same size, just different offset.

Not sure if any ALL terrain tires come unidirectional. I will have to look at that. Although, once tires rotate in one direction they should be kept that way. Hard to get away without having the tires removed from the rims and rotated in the X pattern for rotating. When purchasing a Hydraulic jack pay the money for the one that has the stroke you need. Tall jack stands.
Maybe get yourself some 6" high kinder blocks and a thick piece of plywood.
A fifth tire and rim to rotate into the mix is useful.
