Yup, mine was dead at purchase. Learned the fix from a Youtube video. Hopefully Ford can squeeze a fix in on a future OTA update.
What was the fix you found in YouTube? Just pulling the negative battery cable or something else? Thanks

Yeah, mine did work this morning either. So after we got done with the fire inspection on the building, I remote started the truck just to check the function with the key fob. Shut it off and walked away. When I got back into the truck to leave, restarted the truck it was working again.

I was prepared to disconnect the negative terminal but didn’t have to. First time it’s happened to me.🇺🇸

I think I'm the only one here who just stopped using the button altogether. It's cool, but I don't... omg, I've become an old fart. Fuuuuuuuudge

Nah, just practical.

I don’t often utilize it but I like it to work when I do. First time for everything. I run the truck in Sport with the exhaust set in Baja most of the time.👍🇺🇸

I honestly think I set mine to slippery, 4A because we had some crappy weather for a week and the roads never lost that drizzled on, oil slick surface. The KO3s do not like that at all. I mean no tire does, but I was fishtailing a lot that week, and not for fun.

I still feel old.

After installing my Ford tune I lost some of my personal programmed settings and went back and used the R button again for while, mainly it was just the quiet exhaust setting I programmed to stay quiet that I had lost after the tune.

I lost the R button function a couple more times, about as often as my apple car play looses audio, after 1-few restarts later it always came back. Just like my car play audio comes back.

I got tired of messing with R button again, so I went back in and programmed my exhaust to stay in quiet mode all the time again, and I am back to rarely using the R button.

I should add I do have a start stop eliminator installed as well, so the 2 main reasons I used to use my R button are resolved by other means , to the point I just don’t need to run my R button to get the functions I wanted most.

Seems a lot of these electronic functions are a little hit and miss, still love the truck.
I have a lot of vehicles and my RR is really my primary go to vehicle it’s rare it doesn’t get driven on a daily bases.

Ive found lately that if the R button doesnt work right when I start the truck, it works like 5 minutes later during my drive. On the other hand, Ive also seen the the R button disappear from the dash while Im driving and double pressing the R brings it back up again.

Im more concerned with how many times Ive had to reset the Infotainment screen because its black and I have to reset it before I can go in reverse and see a backup camera.

Just reading through the thread, it’s weird that it seems to happen around 750 miles, I am in Dubai and mine stopped working today at 1200 kilometres! Gonna try the 24 hours and a few restarts before disconnecting the battery.

Try the remote start before you disconnect the battery. I did this and it came back on.🇺🇸

i wonder if its in the coding if its used a lot and it disables it. Maybe it doesn't want you using modes that can cause a decrease in efficiency.

It's possible because I press mine EVERY time I drive lol:
- Baja exhaust
- AWD
- Sport suspension
- Sport Steering

*** For daily driving.

Just wanted to pile on and say this happened to me too at ~2,100 miles. The negative battery disconnect fixed it as others have stated.
This is a fun little truck but I hope this isn't a prelude to the future, I was leery about buying a Ford from the start...

It does come back after 2-3 restarts .
If anyone isn’t wanting to mess with pulling the battery connections.
I have yet to take the time to pull the battery connections.
I could always manually kick in the modes I wanted for a couple restarts.

Also put in a start stop eliminator, and got rid of the main irritating function I was using the R button to get rid of early on . Also figured out how to program in quiet mode exhaust so it stays on all the time. The rest I got use to and rarely ever use my R button now days.

I am not sure if mine still intermittently quits working or not, but based on the replies to this thread I am sure it likely still does.
