I’ve owned a lot of Ford vehicles and have little faith in their ability to make a decent transmission - I’ve gone through three.

I’m hoping to make this Ranger last at least a decade and am most concerned with not stressing the transmission.

I’ve read elsewhere on this form that when you put the vehicle into park, the parking brake doesn’t necessarily engage, and that the vehicle comes to rest on the transmission - potentially leading to a component failure over time.

my father is adamant that the best way to mitigate this is

Brake pedal > neutral > engage parking brake > release brake pedal > shift to park

Some people on this form have an accessory that engages the parking brake automatically when the is put vehicle into park.

My wife will not use the above procedure when she drives the vehicle, so automatically engaging the parking brake when she parks the vehicle is appealing.

This is my first truck and first BOF vehicle - not sure if it’s a valid concern. Would really appreciate your insight!

I’d say you’re not wrong in thinking that it’s not good letting the truck rock onto the Parking pawl in the transmission. No need to dance through neutral though, if you simply shift to park and engage the parking brake before releasing the foot brake, the weight will rest on the P-Brake.

sorry I don’t know/can’t help with an auto-parking brake modification….im new to the Rangers as well…

Has someone installed this together with start/stop module? Does it work like that?
Yeah, at least one other person on the forum has installed both.

Should have been more coherent and concise in the original post - main concern was if going through neutral to engage the parking brake was any better for the transmission.

Sounds like there’s no difference. I’ve ordered both the start-stop eliminator and auto parking brake modules. In a few weeks I’ll be able to corroborate if the aussie tech works in a North American 2.3L XLT - can’t imagine why it wouldn’t.

I haven't done it often but I have noticed when I park on an incline, the parking brake will turn on automatically. Looking at the manual, it does not specify exactly what conditions the parking brake will engage, only lists some conditions in which it "may" engage. Not encouraging. This is for electronic shift transmissions.

Isn't that possibly related to the auto hold feature?

My 25 RR does auto apply the parking brake most of the time on my driveway, which is uphill with a bit of crown built into it. If I park in the middle where the angle is steepest the parking brake will always apply itself. If I drive up towards the top where it starts to level off, it often doesn't. I do as someone else said, hit the brakes, put it into park, watch to see if the "brake" light illuminates, if so it's already applied, turn ignition off.

Can confirm they work together. I have both and they’re both plug and play, set and forget.

I had the Auto Start Eliminator first from 4D Tech, then recently added the RARanger Parking Brake Module. They plug in together and just work. Worth it IMO.
