Haven't seen it really mentioned, but the RR shifter sucks, not just from being a weird design, but because I grew up driving manual and used to driving with my hand on the shifter, which is now too short. Also, I'm used to holding my wife's hand while driving, and there just isn't a good place to rest the hand.

Discovered today the Camelback 20oz bottle with the fixed loop is the perfect height and very comfy as a palm rest for all the above needs.

Not a joke! Happy Tuesday everyone!

I actually like the shifter because it doesn't take up too much space and makes the center console area look clean, but I'm glad it's not a dial like the 4WD selector like I see in other vehicles.

I've had a shifter like before in an older Charger so I'm used to it and really like it now.

At least it is still a shifter on the center console. It could have been just a dial on the dashboard or a touch sensitive drive mode strip on the mirror.

I get what op is saying. I used to rest my palm on my 2019 Ranger like a manual but I also appreciate the clearance also. Hate the shifting tho. Should be a nuance in the shift to R.

Good fix with the bottle. I have the standard shifter in my XLT. I like the feel of it, but it gets in the way a bit. You have to do some gymnastics to get a phone around it to the charging pad. There's always pros and cons to everything, I guess.

You were driving wrong all this time anyway. Most people cant keep their hands neutral while driving and if you put any pressure horizontally you will start to wear synchro's early. Fix your driving habits.

Myth. None of the Porsches I've owned ever had problems, and even it does, I get bored and get a new one before it's ever remotely an issue.

Its not a myth. If you are resting it 100% horizontal, yep, but you aren't so its not. I'm happy you owned some Porsches and stuff, but you are still messing them up. The shifter is fine and your driving habit is bad. If you dont want o acknowledge it, that's ok no one cares because it doesnt matter for this vehicle we are here to discuss.

at least its not a dial :) I don't mind it, liked the taller one in my '19 Lariat a little better though...and less of a boot to tear, crack, wear out etc. :)

I;ve gotten a "Keep two hands on the wheel" warning, when I have the stay in your lane running.

Ha, long afternoon of football and $2 Absolute 100...made me think of the Doors:

"Ah Keep your eyes on the road
Your hands upon the wheel
Keep your eyes on the road
Your hands upon the wheel
Yeah, we're going to the roadhouse
Gonna have a real good-time "

You're correct. This hasn't been an issue for at least 30 years. The only time I've seen synchros torn up is from people who jam their car into gear. Seen this in a lot of cars of people who drag race their manuals.
