It was nice surprise when I first used tow/haul mode and had a trailer hooked up ... turning on a turn signal yielded a view of that side's camera.

BUT, that feature kicks in only when a trailer is connected. I really like that view, especially for lane changes in traffic.

I've looked through the on board manual, but can't find la way to select that as a default option in all modes and without a trailer.

I'm hoping for guidance. Can I do it, and if so, how? Thanks.

Also am curious about how this works... I wonder if there's a dummy plug that can be used to trick the vehicle into thinking there's a trailer connected.

You can try something like this.
It should be enough to fool the auto trailer detection into thinking you have trailer which will trigger your mirror cameras to activate with the blinker.
Note:
To keep some of your other safety features working like blindside monitors, you can setup a dummy profile for the trailer that it is detecting that is not there.

You can setup a trailer profile of like say a 2ft long trailer and that gets the BLIS back on. Your rear park sensors would remain off.

I had to do these things with my lighted headache rack, since when tapped into trailer wiring the truck always thinks it has a trailer on it.

Thanks. That's a reasonable suggestion which I may try, but I'm hoping for a "cleaner" solution.

I’ve been wondering this as well.

This week we picked up a 2026 Expedition, and it has the turn signal camera functionality built-in. So unlike our Rangers, it functions sans trailering. I would LOVE this feature on my Ranger, and think it could be an OTA software update for sure. There’s no reason why not. C’mon Ford.

I believe there is a non-asbuilt option in FORscan for this. I haven’t tried to enable but plan to try soon
