Sync 4A Missing

Did anyone else think they were getting Sync 4A but only have Sync 4? My build listed Sync 4A when I ordered my XLT in June, was on the sticker with Vin number emailed to me in July, and is on the paper sticker when I picked up my Ranger in September. But when I went online for help in using the info screen, I was told it was Sync 4, confirmed by then going to the screen page listing the versions. Can anything be done to fix this?

SYNC 4A Versus SYNC 4
There are a couple of main features of SYNC 4A that distinguish it from SYNC 4:

• Adaptive Dash Cards
• Automatic placement of frequently used dash items at the top of the screen

Note: SYNC 4 cannot be upgraded to SYNC 4A.

Yeah, take it to the dealer and let them unscrew it.

While anything is possible, I would be surprised you truly have a Sync 4 and not the Sync 4A and something is mixed up on their end.

Can you post a picture of your software version page?

That's backwards. We have SYNC 4A (with 12" vertical screen). The software says SYNC 4 on the screen but it's 4A - specifically version: 23321_PRODUCT. 4A gives the added abilities and apps SYNC 4 does not have with a smaller horizontal screen.

*EDIT: Actually maybe not. See my post below. Doesn't look like vertical or horizontal orientation is a factor at all. Screen size plays a part but not the whole story.

I think OP is right. It was originally advertised that the ranger would get SYNC 4A yet of all the screenshots/videos I've never seen the "adaptive dash cards" that are exclusive to 4A. Nor do we have the little vehicle icon in the top left.

This is a screenshot from Sync 4A in the Ford Edge. Does anyone have these features that the arrows are pointing out? I believe the "adaptive dash cards" are what the bottom arrow is pointing at.

I definitely don't have any of that. I figured it was for ROW models and NA version was slightly different. If that's a NA Edge, then maybe not.

You may be right. Ford's webpage on differences between the 2 are less than informative. Says SYNC 4 doesn't list the Sketch Pad but he 4A does. But we definitely don't have Adaptive Dash Cards.

My window sticker lists SYNC 4A and when I log into my Ford Account and look up my vehicle features, it's all instructions on SYNC 4A. But we are lacking a key element of 4A. Software versions aren't exactly clear either. I've seen reports of people with 4A stating the version just says SYNC 4. So who knows?

Do we have 4A that needs updated to get full features? Or are we stuck with SYNC 4 that lack the things we were supposed to get?

My guess is erroneous info on the earlier builds that's since been corrected on the window sticker but not on the Ford website ?‍

base on what i looked at all last night- we got sync 4. my build sheet says 4a, but all of the actual controls and features are sync 4.

confirmed for my truck- sync 4.

i paid for 4a, what now?
edit- so called ford, she said there are a few things that indicate 4A. vertical screen and in the settings the options are also vertical not horizontal. (that’s what she said so who know?)
also, when looking at the software generation they all say sync 4, not 4A.
like i said, that’s what she told me but we know how that goes.

she did say there is a tsb for it missing features in the center screen.
