Trying to predict what to expect, like when making the new purchase deal how would they give me a trade value then say 3 months + or - later the deal closes when the new order arrives?
I have a value from Carvana but that's only good for 7 days and certain miles,
then it changes depending on the used market. Anyone done this before?
TIA.

When I was waiting for my '24 to arrive, the dealer wouldn't even look at my '21 for an estimated trade in value. Said used car market prices were falling too fast. That was Oct '24.

That's like trying to predict where a specific company on the stock market will be in 3 months. Used cars are extremely volatile right now.

Since financing is all done when the truck actually shows up, you'll probably just have to wait til then. Dealership didn't even ask if I wanted to trade in when I ordered.

When I was looking at trading in my 2019 F 150 dealer gave me a range and stated nothing
in writing until day of trade. Sold it myself for more than dealer's high figure. Enough for the tax savings.

Yes, I put a deposit on a truck that the dealer had on allocation. The dealer gave me a value what he would give me for my trade, 2 months later when the Ranger arrived at the dealer, he asked about the trade, I told him I won't be trading it in. I shopped around and got the most money from CarMax-about 2k more than the dealer offered. I picked up my Ranger 4 weeks ago.

Thanks to all for the replies and experiences I have a current offer from Carvana for $36g,
I'm also preferring to trade for the sales tax benefit, my current build spec out is around $37g (not MSRP but after the Emp discount) so the trade in's almost a wash as far as value, i do have a loan balance of roughly $28g.
And what I'm doing is specking the truck out exactly as i have now with the only change being color, choosing Azure Gray, the other benefits being the updated 2.3, the better elec brake booster for better pedal feel than the mushy over boosted version currently and 2wd over current 4wd .
So, four changes from my current truck.
I just don't use 4wd and have to purposely go to a dirt trail to engage it to keep the gears functioning & lubed with this truck and previous ones.
Winters here are just not what they use to be when i was a kid, i haven't had the need to engage the 4wd button since 2018 for snow condt's and at this point want to be more practical

I waited 11 months for my 2024 Lariat FX4. They gave me a ballpark price at beginning and said when the new one came in then they would re-assess it. I watched the used car prices go up and down and when it was time to trade it just happened they were way up so I got a really good price.
