Hey folks, in case anyone was wondering what the situation was on tuning for the new RR, I contacted 5-Star to find out where they were in development. The following is the response from 5-Star:

Hey Russell

We need SCT and HPTuners to release support for the 24's. They are both still working on. Once they release it we will be able to start tuning them. I do not have an eta on that release as of yet. I would check back with me in a few months to see if anything changes

There are quite a few tuners out there, including FORD, but 5-Star has a great reputation, and would probably be my first choice if a factory tune is not available.

I wouldn't mind having the shift schedule tweaked and shifting firmed up in normal. Are they going to offer a programmer like Quarterhorse?

They typically use a programmer from SCT like others in this segment that are more universal. They will send you a file to upload to the programmer and if you want certain things changed, they can tweak the file depending on the tuner company. I can't recall if 5 Star asks you to do a data log after you tune it, but a couple companies I've used in the past (Lund and MPT) have used that data to tweak the tune a bit on top of any requests that I've made

Oh great... remote tuning. No thanks.
Remote tuning is an art. Some are Picasso's while others you wouldn't hang on your refrigerator on the garage.

Pat G remote tunes my CTS-V via HPTuners and is awesome. I data log and he tweaks it as needed. There are others that... well, engine go boom.

So while I get the hesitation, and remote tunes will never replace a dyno tune, there are reputable remote tuners out there. Personally, I'd trust a reliable remote tuner over anyone local, but that's just due to my location. YMMV

There is no Ford tuner for the Ranger Raptor as of yet...but I think we all know that. Read and interesting comment on another thread relating to Ford Tune and it said it reduced the power train warranty to the 3/36 - didn't make sense and I need to ping my Ford Performance POC and check on the tune and that contention.

I don’t think 5 Star has the great reputation you think they do. I would personally avoid them. Google is your friend.

Last time I checked, Ford Performance doesn’t have a tune for the 3.0 and nothing per se for the Ranger Raptor.👍🇺🇸

Thanks for the update. Figured the platform was 2 years out based on changes for 2024 before the 5Star guys can start playing. Used Troyer Performance back in 2004 for the new F150 platform and he hosted dyno days. Remote tuning with Lund for the 2015 Stang and 5Star then MPT for the 2017 3.5 ecoboost f150. Did like the MPT a bit over the 5Star since they seems to have perfected the shifts and had a rough 7-6 downshift with original gen 2 ecoboost tcm tune shift schedule. Have a 2018 Superduty 6.2 and worked with 5Star team for a beefed up tps sensitivity increases instead of getting a Pedal Monster. 5 data logs using the ngauge I bought from them originally and used with the 2017 F150 before trading for SD. Great team to work with, they will work with you and tell you when it is dialed in as good as it gets. Run the 93 daily tow since 2019 and I feel it is dialed in perfect. Wife has a job 2, every option, XLT build with the 2.7 eco scheduled for a 8/17 build week. Will certainly be back with 5Star team when one of the flash devices finally can decrypt the updated pcms. I would work with one of these guys for remote tuning any time, each time, just cycled 39 seconds for each : idle, casual drive and WOT pull ( have a good area with no one on the road for early Sunday morning for the WOT pull )

G’Day chaps.
I appreciate that most here might be in the USA
There is an Aussie mob Herrod Performance with a package that gives 60kw/200Nm more over stock.
Best thing!!
Herrod-tuned Raptors retain their full five-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranties on all bits not altered by Herrod.
Not sure who he is affiliated with in the states.

Not out yet for Ranger Raptor but supposedly coming. Ford Performance has had a tune out for a bit for the Explorer ST with the same 3.0. https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-EX30 Sounds like Ford is 18 months into the development and regulatory process on the BRaptor tune, assuming it is still going, and then the RRaptor is next in line.

When i spoke to Ford Performance at PRI they were testing the Braptor tune. Thought it would be mid year for that to debut. We should be closely behind that.

You’re correct, they are affiliated with ford performance and offer warranty tuning. I was going to mention them.

So, let me see if I’ve got all this straight:
1) 100+ HP over stock
2) 150+ TQ over stock
3) Maintains FORD factory warranty
4) <$4K USD installed

I’m ready to feel the thunder from down under! Does anyone know if they have a stateside rep?
