Wanderfox Overland Topper

I stumbled across Wanderfox Overland in a Facebook marketplace post. They are in Golden, CO about 20 minutes from where I live.



I decided to go down to their warehouse about 20 minutes from where I live and check one of the toppers out, and wound up ordering one. I have been looking at an overland topper or a traditional fiberglass topper, I think both look good, but what I really wanted was windows with vents for my dog. Sadly Leer doesn't make a fiberglass topper with windoors with vents for our short beds; SnugTop does but it was 4k for one optioned out that way. This was 2720$(w/tax) with front slider, and windows with sliders/w roof rails.

I plan to install it myself so I didn't pay for installation.

I met Andrew, their sales/support guy who let me look at one being assembled and a few that were assembled. They are made out of aluminum and bolted together.

I like the way they look and they seemed pretty robust and were made out of aluminum I also liked the locking mechanism. Right now you can't unlock these from inside, he said they were working on that.


I asked Andrew about the tariffs and he said they had raised their prices already to account for the tariffs, and it would be 60-90 days before I'd get my topper. He said they recently changed their design for the 2024+ Ranger as the toppers were running a little narrow.

Andrew said these weigh about 200lbs, he said they have an engineer on staff who works on the design.

Once I get mine I'll post a review of it.

That is crazy cool looking. Thanks for the post. I was preparing to order an A.R.E. Topper for my new truck, but I will consider this one. I also live in Denver, I'm going to drive over there.

That looks good. I wonder if you can get one ordered with the slider side windows, but with accessory panels over them since they look like they just bolt onto the solid panels. Best of both worlds.

Dude, that looks way better than a fiberglass top. i always try to find aluminum tops when i get one for a truck because of weight. hat thing looks like its ready for war.

Do you have any pictures of this cap mounted on a ranger? I've been looking for an overland cap that fits the body, and particularly the roofline, of the ranger better than the smart cap and alu-cab options.

I don't, you could email them and ask. They say they laser scan the trucks to make sure the fit is right, I also asked them if they knew the 2024 Ranger was a redesign and they did. I'll post pictures once I get mine, should be 60-90 days.

I did have a good impression or else I wouldn't have ordered from them. They are a Chinese importer, they also sell farm equipment that they import, so their warehouse was full of other equipment that they had imported along with toppers. They had about 5 toppers assembled ready to go for other popular trucks like the F150.

When I placed the order for the topper I went into the above the warehouse office which was filled with cubicles and had a few people working there along with their dogs.

There of course a risk that the tariffs will disrupt their business - I asked them about this and they said they had already accounted for it in their pricing - which from my very very rough math seems like they had (given you can get a similar chinese topper for ~900$ off of Alibaba, so figure in economies of scale and 145% tarrifs, etc).

I certainly feel a lot more comfortable with ordering from WanderFox than directly sourcing from Alibaba.
