Recently made a trip back to the Midwest from Florida to visit family. On the trip up, I averaged 20.1 mpg (calculated by the RR computer) and was quite impressed. My previous truck was a 2010 Gen 1 F-150 Raptor with the 6.2l v-8, which on it's best day made 15.5 MPG. On the way back home, I drove across southern Iowa on Highway 34. This is a 55 mph, two-lane highway that passes through several small towns with plenty of hills.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my Ranger Raptor to reach an average MPG over 25 on this stretch of road! The RR computer calculated a mileage of 25.8 MPG, but when I topped off the tank and calculated the average myself, it came out to 25.6. Still quite impressive! I have the ProCal tune, an ARE Revo topper installed (which improved my mileage by about 1.5 MPG) and about 3,500 miles on the odometer, but still did not think I would ever see mileage this high.

Has anyone else seen this kind of mileage?

So mine spiked up after about 4 tanks of premium gas. This is my commute, which is up and down hills in the mountains with an overall increase in elevation for the trip - the same commute where my Tacoma was lucky to get 17.5MPG. On regular gas I was getting ~18mpg on this same trip in the Raptor. I got 26.8 MPG going to visit family the other day with an overall 100ft drop in elevation over 50 miles with an average speed of 62. Not to mention. I have my tires aired down to 36PSI for comfort.

Wow! I just can't keep mine out of sport mode. My lead foot with the ball bearing ankle will prevent me from ever seeing those numbers. I just go from gas station to gas station with a huge grin plastered on my face.

I tried Sport Mode a bit, but it was before the transmission was done learning, I believe.

It was holding gears too long. I determined it was more of a track mode and just left it alone until break-in is done. It was winding things up too much for it's initial thousand miles.

It's very possible, here is why:
(1) you're on flat ground
(2) you're going 55mph. Wind affects are V^2, so the slower you go the more MPH you get because you're pushing less against wind.

Back in the days there was this thing called "hypermileage" where people would push the limits of MPG by taking corners fast (not slowing down), or coasting as much as possible, slow acceleration, etc. etc.

I think for most cars the optimal speed for mph is 55mph, and in a higher gear to keep RPMs low. But I could be a bit off here.

Take the wins when you can.

Definitely not for me. Half my drive was 45, some stop lights and the highway portion is the other half and it is 70-75 and it’s up and down hills half the drive.

I feel like I could get 26-27mpg in normal mode going 55-60 on flat ground.

Also it seems like driving around in 4A all the time has a noticeable negative impact on gas mileage, especially at lower speeds and stop and go. I haven’t tested it recently but it seemed that way a good while back when I had my R mode set that way.

I'm still in the break in period but I'm only getting 16 with mixed driving :'). Hoping it gets better with a few tanks of premium(since the dealer probably used 87)and putting some more miles on it. I didn't go into it expecting great mpg but I'm usually able to get higher than the rated numbers on any vehicle I drive.

On a recent trip from Indianapolis to Savannah, GA, I averaged 20.1 mpg coming and going, at a pretty consistent 75mph. I noticed increased mpg immediately after I had the Procal installed at around 800 miles. I’m at 4,200 now and run premium all of the time.

“Keep driving and you will see the manufacturers estimations of 16-18 mpg is accurate.” - my dad

I haven’t even activated ECO mode in my raptor and I am sitting at 17.7 and that’s driving downhill both ways with a bottle wedged under the accelerator.

some guys just have all the luck

I don't think there is an eco mode funny enough lol

It's a brick on wheels. Anything above 65mph you're gonna notice a pretty big hit. 75-85mph on Arizona freeways is killing my mileage. (15.5 average) lol

mine is 15mpg consistently... no traffic lichts but quite a bit of slower traffic from time to time, so accelerations are common
