I use Android Auto; it hooks up as soon as I start my 2024 Lariat. I always keep the voice directions muted though as they drive me crazy. So yesterday I get into my truck to leave work and as soon as I start to leave my parking spot the female AA voice (I get both a male and a female, randomly) tells me there is a delay of 9 minutes to my destination. First, I didn't enter a destination, so how could it know if there's a delay or not? Second, why/how did I get a voice message like that? Voice directions are muted. When she said it, no message appeared on my screen. This has happened to me a couple of times now. Has anybody else had this happen? Any thoughts on causes?
The other weird thing AA has been doing lately is when I try to call someone, it will tell me that person isn't in my contacts. That's using voice commands and the microphone button on the screen. However, if I say "OK Google, call the Old Lady", it will dial it right up.
Same with text messages. Every now and then if I hit the microphone button and say "text the Old Lady" it will tell me that feature isn't available. Then I'll say "OK Google, text the Old Lady", and it will work fine.
Oddly in both the calling and texting issues, it's usually the female voice telling me I can't do it, then when I use OK Google the male voice will let me proceed. Go figure.
