On my way to work, I was coming to the end of a side street onto a main road. I slowly rolled to the stop with the intent to go quickly if there was no cars coming. I did a hesitated acceleration but then braked because I thought I saw a car. When I realized there wasnt one I gunned it to get onto the main road. However, nothing happened. The car was showing second gear on the display(in sport mode) and my foot was to the floor on the gas pedal but nothing happened, no revving or reaction, it didnt go anywhere. Took my foot off the pedal then reapplied and the truck kind of skipped and then started going, still in 2nd gear. Ive experienced situations like this in DCT equipped cars when coming to a slow stop then quickly accelerating and the transmission didnt know what gear to be in. But a true torque converter operated auto like this I wouldnt expect it. Unless it wasnt transmission related and the throttle-by-wire got hung up somewhere. Just spitballing at this point, but it was disconcerting nonetheless.

We don't have a dual-clutch auto. It's a normal torque converter style transmission.

Is everything normal now?
My guess is that you confused the transmission/accelerator "logic".
I've had something similar in my 5G where I accelerated quickly, then had to hit the brakes, then get back on the gas. Seemed like the transmission didn't know what gear it was supposed to be in.
After that, everything behaved normal.

Yeah, rest of the drive was fine. I'm actually going to try to recreate this situation on a private back road to see if it happens again.

Had a similar situation earlier this week. I was in sports mode creeping around a parking lot. I'm not exactly sure what I did, but I believe, I was rolling very slow and attempted to apply the brakes but then ended up accelerating and heard hard shift clunk. so far the rest of the week has been ok.

Somewhat off-topic. I see the '25 Maverick is getting a dual-clutch rear-end. And a hybrid 4X4 option.
I wonder how much the price will increase for the Ranger Raptor? The Tremor price went up over $7K, with the new Lobo higher than that.

I've had a similar situation in my XLT.

Dual clutch rear end. Is that what they used to call a Limited Slip differential like I had in my '99 B4000?

I've had a very similar thing happen in my F150 a handful of times over the last seven years. It's very disconcerting, but I think it's just a side effect of all the electronics running the show these days.

Likely that was not your transmission, That was what happens when a turbo charged engine bogs out. That situation stalled the truck for just a moment - no torque to the transmission no forward motion. It was just the right set of circumstances.

It’s a Ford thing. My Mustang use to do that explorers I drive all do it. You can take your truck in but they will tell you there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just a stall between the computer and the transmission when you slam the accelerator.
