Is that just scrapes to a peel-off film? That might be no big deal. It's my understanding Carfax/etc. only receive damage reports from insurance claims. Crashes that occur and were fixed privately or with your own money would never show up there. Carfax is only a snapshot of your vehicle history, although usually a good one.

Unfortunately that doesn't look like shipping film... looks like someone done f'ed up. Still, simple fix for their body shop.

I doubt that gets reported. There is a $$$ threshold for repairs (like 10% of MSRP or something) in some states where it MUST be reported, but that won't even come close.

Mine had a small (~1") through-to-the-metal nick on the tailgate that got fixed. Annoying, but common and not a huge deal

Yeah that looks superficial like a rub mark to me, likely a little compound and some light rubbing will remove it. Hopefully! LIke said above, not uncommon at all for shipping things like this and dealerships to have to correct them at PDI

In transit damage doesn't get reported. The dealer just fixes it

That's bare metal. Salesman said it has to go through the body shop and it will not be reported. I told him to let me know when it's ready.

That's not necessarily true. I was sideswiped, so I called the police. It was very minor damage not requiring insurance. When I went to sell the vehicle, it showed up on the CARFAX report.

Be careful. I had a brand new truck that had damage to pait on the tailgate. Dealership fixed it and it was automatically sent to Carfax and reported as a minor accident. Had to sent all my documentation of repair to Carfax. They eventually cleared my report.

My truck came in with paint scratch marks on the front bumper cover (looks like a trailer hitch receiver from another truck hit it while on the transport truck based on the markings)- the dealership repainted it at no cost to me and its not on any report tied to the truck.

After, it was a paint blemish. Check car fax in a month or 2. I didn't find out until 2 yrs later when I traded it in for for my 2024 2.3 XLT FX4 4X4 301a

For some reason the salesman was pushing me to come in and finalize the paperwork before it was fixed and ready for delivery.

I declined. I told him when it's fixed and ready for delivery to let me know. I'll look it over then finish the deal.
