Decided to bite the bullet today and take the headliner down, install some sound deadening in the roof. Ran a cable for a rear facing dash cam and also installed a 3rd brake light GMRS antenna mount from Bulletproof Diesel. It's a really nice mount and super clean once it's all done.

I put in the GMRS antenna while I had the headliner out so I could hide all the cables, havn't installed the radio yet but wanted to get the antenna mount done. You would have to at least take down the back part of the headliner to do this anyway. Will do a nice hidden setup with a MXT575 later, similar to what is shown in this thread, but I'm going to put the radio back behind the rear seats.

Antenna mount with a stubby 3.5" Midland ghost antenna:

And a closeup with a protective cap, I'll keep this on unless I'm out with the radio going. If you catch the antenna on something you could definitely screw up the cab, it is very solidly attached.

Taking the headliner off is a huge pain in the ass! Shout out to flaberdoopin for his video, it was helpful. Spent about 5 hours getting everything done, nice to have that out of the way. Not going to take that thing down again any time soon.

Two weeks ago, installed a Gator SRX tonneau cover.
This weekend installed Waterproof Cordura Custom seat covers from Shear Comfort on the front.

Installed formed Ford factory front mud flaps on forward arch of rear tires. Very good match to raised profile of flap. Been on a few weeks now and really helping to keep step clean with my less than ideal choice of +0 wheels.

Let me get this straight.
You used splash guards intended for the front, on the rear, but installed them at front of the wheel? How difficult was that? Did you have to do some drilling?

Yes, I used the factory left front on right rear and RF to LR. Used the push pins that came with flaps. I found 9/32” bit for plastic wheel extension and 19/64” for the felt/plastic inner fender was tightest fit and still be able to push in lock pin. Taped in place to sharpie mark and drill. Biggest pain was removing rear tires.

This is my 3rd day with my new Ranger. I joined this forum. Does that count as doing something to my new Ranger ? :) I realize what I have signed up for, 3 Amazon orders and an Etsy order already on the way lol

I came from the Bronco forum and the Ranger 5G before that.

What size tire are you running and do you have a level kit?

Santa came a little early for me & weather was nice enough to finally unbox some of the #truckstuff thats arrived over the past few weeks:

* Ford Accessories bed extender (cashed in a bunch of ford points + 25% off Black Friday discount)

* Muslogy center armrest cover

* Redline Tuning hood struts (once Lowes reopens after Christmas because I dont have a 13mm deep socket… yet!)

To get ready for a recent trip to Florida and to make my Ranger more useful to me, added the following:

  1. J-Braces to support additional load on truck bed. Found that using a 1/4“ drive 5/16 deep well socket on the backside of the white fender clips helped remove them. Just pushed the socket onto the back of the clips while pulling on the fender.
  2. Removed the bed cap plugs and installed 1 inch high aluminum spacers with 3/8 inch studs. Installed weatherstripping around the spaces and filled with black caulk.
  3. Installed SuperStrut rails with weatherstripping on the bottom on the aluminum spacers
  4. Installed a Bed Rug Impact mat in the truck bed and tailgate
  5. Installed a TruXedo Sentry CT tonneau cover
  6. Installed crossbars and rack made from SuperStrut (still need to remove and paint). Was pushed for time due to the trip to Florida.

The 1 inch high aluminum spacers ensured the bed rails would be above the plastic bed caps. After reading the warning on the caps and looking at the plastic bed caps, I didn’t see where it would support much weight.

I’m thinking about getting the Gator SRX cover. Does it sit completely flat and no gaps? How about any leaks?
The low profile looks sweet. However the cover clamps onto the inside of the bed rails. Thus a seam is open to the elements and often gaps slightly. I have purchased some thin 1/16th weather stripping to hopefully seal that seam a bit better but I haven't had the time to remove the cover to install the weather stripping. I'll watch this post and hopefully remember to respond with updates.

Replaced the door speakers with Focal IS 690 up front and Focal IC 165 in the back. Put in sound deadening in the doors while it was taken apart. So-far sounds better, more bass, more definition and just "cleaner" overall.

The IS 690 up front is identical to the stock speakers. The IC 165 in the back is the right size, but the stock speaker bracket sticks out a little more and is at an angle. I think it's still the right part, as the "IC" version has the tweeter mounted above the main speaker (vs the "IS" version has a separate tweeter). The stock rear speakers have an integrated tweeter suspended above the main speaker, so I still think the IC 165 is correct for the rear.

Next up - JL Stealthbox sub and (probably) removing the stock sub later in January.
