Everything you say is true. The reason I bring up Honda is because they have attempted a merger with Nissan in 2025 but it fallen through Now I have heard Nissan is looking to "partner" with another automaker with their body on frame trucks. Honda or maybe Volkswagen?Honda is always so late to every party its typically cooled off or completely over by the time they get there:
late to the SUV party they didnt carve out any significant slice
late to the truck party and produced a low sale boutique entry no one wants
never entered the V8 party and everyone moved on to smaller displacement turbocharging fleet party
late to the smaller displacement turbocharging fleet party
late to the performance vehicle turbocharging party
and now the Korean manufacturers are eating Hondas lunch in every category because Hondas are no longer the bargain alternative brand.
sometimes I wonder how companies stay in business.I read an article from a ford executive in the Detroit press where she basically said "we don't want to make the ranger that good so it doesn't eat into f150 sales." or something like that... which was quite concerning. that protectionism is a bitch strategy.
Dumb asses like me buying their mediocre priority profit maximization products, then them failing right after warrantysometimes I wonder how companies stay in business.
