Decided to convert my little Ranger XLT from the standard group 48 battery to a 94R AGM. It's a pretty simple conversion.....all you need are the corresponding battery tray and insulator cover from a Lariat and you're off like a prom dress. All other components are the same....both cables reach easily and the hold-down bracket transfers over. When researching the project, the only part numbers that differed between a 2.3L XLT and Lariat were the battery tray, insulator cover and battery itself. The 94R conversion caused zero clearance issues and looks like it was factory installed. I get the impression that this is being done by a lot of Ranger owners because until recently the parts were on national backorder with no ETA. And if you're buying the battery from Costco, their 94R AGM Interstate Batteries do not require shims at the posts......everything clamped just fine.
