Bug found for programming keypad on door. Here is workaround

I got myself 2024 Lariat two weeks ago. I decided to try add/replace door code. Ford mobile tech confirmed that there is a bug from the 12" center screen programming.

- I have the master code on card from the fuse box inside of bottom steering cover.

- I also have the first door code from dealer which works.

What I did from the center display's VEHICLE/KEYLESS setting:

- Followed instruction to enter master code and then tried both steps of erase then add new code and just add 2nd code keeping 1st code. It showed no errors.

- On the door, the new door code doesn't work.

- On the door, the first door code still works after erasing and added 2nd code.

- This process has a bug and is already reported to Ford HQ.

Workaround using programming on keypad on door rather than the center screen:

Step 1: Enter the preset entry code. (The card that dealer gave you for first code)

Step 2: Within five seconds press the "1-2" button on the key pad.

Step 3: Enter your five-digit personal entry code. Each number must be pressed within five seconds of the last.

Step 4: Press the "1-2," "3-4" or "5-6" button to set which of the three personal entry code slots you wish to use. You can program up to three personal entry codes.

The doors will lock and then unlock to confirm your entry of a new personal entry code.

Confirmed this works. Thank you. The screen wasn’t accepting the master code from the card.

I have two cards. One is master one that sits on fuse box and the other is from dealer for first door code which itself is not a master code. Did you tried the master code?

Yep, touchscreen doesn't accept factory code card.

I haven't tried using the code from the fuse box yet, they are different; saw this the other day when I installed the auto start/stop eliminator.

Thanks for confirming this works. I tried using the infotainment screen and got frustrated when that method didn't work. Figured I would try the older method on the keypad like my 2011 Escape but hadn't got around to it.

Hopefully this bug is fixed as the infotainment method would be convenient.

When I took delivery of my truck the salesman tried putting in my custom code for me using the key pad. He tried a few times and couldn't get it to work. I said I'll do it when I get home. I did and it worked for me. He isn't very tech savvy so I knew he wasn't doing it right.
Another time I bought a new truck there. He had to follow me to the nearest store to fill my truck up using the dealership gas card. They are a small dealer and don't have their own gas pumps. He locked the keys in the Explorer he was driving so I had to give him a ride back to the dealership to get another key.

New 2024 Lariat here. I spoke with the dealer yesterday and he thinks that it's just a software issue and the "change door code" should NOT be an option on the center console screen. It's likely that they installed a generic software/application to the center console that also goes into other vehicles that have keypads in the B-pilar.

What I think is happening is that the Rangers have just the generic Ford "accessory" keypad which is installed just above the door handle as opposed to what's in the Lightening which is in the B-pilar. So we have two separate systems right now. Likely what will happen is they will have a software update at some point that will just remove the option to change the door code from the screen.

Dealer is looking into it, and I'll provide an update when I get any new info...

My 2019 F150 Platinum had that in the center console and did not work and I had the B-pilar keypad.
Still had to add custom entry numbers at keypad.
I think it was a future idea that did not happen.

That's what I was guessing as well. To the car, the stick on keypad on our door probably operates very similar to a key. Its not a two way communication.
